Yeah if Chi/LA/DC can match, then NYC will be worse off. NYC firms have to raise salaries by more than other cities can afford to.

I feel like that's a bad idea. Seems like stealth layoffs of upper class-men would be a better idea.El Pollito wrote:Are they going to no offer extra people to get to 180K?
God 180k in a non-NYC market sounds amazing and idk why people would want to be in NYC.

Would make Milwaukee the go to. 160K in Wisconsin would have you living like royalty.Serett wrote:Milwaukee to 160?!
First purchase would DEFINITELY be Badgers football season tickets.

no offering a couple SAs here and there wouldn't raise any huge red flags, just cold offer themBizBro wrote:I feel like that's a bad idea. Seems like stealth layoffs of upper class-men would be a better idea.El Pollito wrote:Are they going to no offer extra people to get to 180K?

also if you no offer one or 2 SAs people will victim blame instead of firm blame
seems much easier than firing people who know things

Brad Karp sent out an email to all PW summers announcing that our salaries would be raised to $3.5K a week on July 1 as well.

Do you actually think firms would cut profitable, hard to come by and experienced mid levels/seniors to avoid cold offering a few SAs?BizBro wrote:I feel like that's a bad idea. Have we ruled out the ReedSmith-ing, of firing droves of second tier partners?Magic Hat wrote:Do you actually think firms would cut profitable, hard to come by and experienced mid levels/seniors to avoid cold offering a few SAs?BizBro wrote:I feel like that's a bad idea. Re: Summer Associate Class of 2016
Had two assignments due last Friday, and on Thursday evening I got an email that said something like "If you're free I might have some things you can help me out with. " for an older associate.
Basically wrote back saying I'm finishing up a bunch of stuff tomorrow but I'd be happy to help next week. Never heard back. Did I handle this situation right? It's been nagging me.

The work I did was actually used today. Was kind of cool seeing that at least some of what I do actually is used by the firm.

Yeah, nearly identical thing happened here, reached out the next week, and got a "thank so much, really appreciate you getting back to me, have nothing now, but will let you know if something comes up" kind of response.

I would have said something likeAnonymous User wrote:Had two assignments due last Friday, and on Thursday evening I got an email that said something like "If you're free I might have some things you can help me out with. " for an older associate.

"I would be happy to help? When do you need this done? I have two deadlines tomorrow, so a 24-hour turnaround will be difficult, but I'm more than happy to work on it over the weekend."
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
