Interrupting our regularly scheduled panic to announce:
OCI IS OVER Y'ALL WOOOO.

And because I know 3Ls are going to tell me to quit dancing and keep mass mailing

Re: NU OCI 2013/The Great Jerb Hunt
Got a Perkins email asking me to fill out one of those self-identification forms (gender/race/etc) but the form is a bit wonky. It took me a while to realize I needed to click "Edit" in the upper right to change anything. Then the form says "Click Update to submit form," but there's no Update button, only "Submit." So I clicked that. And then if you click "Sign Off," it gets an error message. Not the error they mentioned in the email where it wants a resume, but just a server error.
Anyone else get the form to work any more smoothly than that? I tried it in both IE and Firefox. I'm going to assume that my info was saved, since if I try it again, the answers are in the form.

Mass mailing is the worst. I'm doing it, but seriously. This sucks. I'm trying to make my life a little easier with some mail merging. Finishing up Chicago now, which means I need a new mail merge document for other markets. NALP has a mail merge feature that is $30 for 50 firms, but it said something about asking your school to be added to an approved list for free mail merging. Is this something Northwestern does?

How much better is the NALP mail merge than just using Excel + Word?LHLH wrote:Mass mailing is the worst. I'm doing it, but seriously. This sucks. Saves me the time of making the excel spreadsheet myself? I am quite new to mail merge though, so if I'm missing some super obvious easy way of doing this, please let me know!

It's late August. You don't have time to wait on getting on some list that NU has. Do it in whatever way is fastest for you. I doubt the money is worth it but if you're really struggling, I guess why not.LHLH wrote:Saves me the time of making the excel spreadsheet myself? No, you're right that it does take some time to make the spreadsheet, but I'd rather spend 1 hour making a list than pay $30, plus I'd feel like I didn't get my money's worth if I ended up with something like 70-80 firms and was paying for 100. Also, it's nice to have an actual list of the firms at the end of the day where you can put notes, etc.LHLH wrote:Saves me the time of making the excel spreadsheet myself? I honestly have no idea how the NALP merge works though, I was more asking out of curiosity for myself than trying to suggest you use Excel.

For future students: This is something that could have been figured out in July when you should be planning and engaging in your job search. OP, I know that is no help to you, sorry.LHLH wrote:Mass mailing is the worst. I'm doing it, but seriously. This sucks. I'm trying to make my life a little easier with some mail merging. IIRC all you have to do to get the mail merge service is sign up with your nlaw email address.

Yeah this is how I've been doing almost all my massmails, I can't even imagine how horrendous it would be without that feature.IAFG wrote:IIRC all you have to do to get the mail merge service is sign up with your nlaw email address.

I personally don't like mail merge because I use the last step to proofread again but that's just my habit.crumpetsandtea wrote:Yeah this is how I've been doing almost all my massmails, I can't even imagine how horrendous it would be without that feature.IAFG wrote:IIRC all you have to do to get the mail merge service is sign up with your nlaw email address.

Is the etiquette of cancelling callbacks to be found somewhere in this thread? (Don't worry 3Ls, wouldn't be cancelling any without an offer).

Wow pretty ballsy to bid 4 markets from slightly above median. You're pretty lucky it seems to be workingAnonymous User wrote:Slightly above median grades.

Has there been any movement (good or bad) from Skadden Chicago? I don't think I've seen anything on here about dings or CBs yet...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
