Bit confused by the Schulte comment.
Last year, they interviewed 80, called back 20, 18 accepted callbacks and of those 18, 13 were extended offers.

I'm suggesting they called back a lot more than 20 this year and don't intend on increasing their summer class by much.Anonymous User wrote:Bit confused by the Schulte comment.

Yep, I looked at the stats, but it's not as if the stats for NY were amazing, either. I have an extremely strong desire to go back to CA, so the fact that NY had better ratios didn't seem to mean much to me at the time, since they were all pretty shitty all around. Was hopeful that everything would pick up this year. Sigh. Yup I'm one of the 0 CB people getting slaughtered. What a waste of interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Did you look at the ratio of extended offers to accepted offers? That's usually a good indicator of whether the offers are going to the same people.Anonymous User wrote:
No, we clearly realized that CA would be hyper grade sensitive, and that is why we all wasted so many bids trying to get back to our home market, even though we don't have a shot there. No I really wish I'd known what a shit show this would be. I hate New York but I should have just lied my ass off b/c with CA's economy the way it is, it was foolish to think I had a shot there. 16 dings and no CBs, just got 3 in the mail today: Quinn in SF (no shocker), Paul Hastings LA, Akin Gump LA. Below median grades. Had a couple really good interviews but was rejected anyway (OMM Century City was my best, but again, foolish to be so naive to think that something besides grades mattered.)
I know a number of people completely shut out of their secondary markets. They got a large number of interviews, but they were wasted interviews because they never had a shot going in. The callbacks went to people who are going to take an offer from V10 in NYC.
I agree with you that OCS didn't provide enough info and the info they did provide wasn't very helpful. Given they have so much data on us and our performance during EIP why they wouldn't release a detailed report or be able to give more personalized advice is beyond me. Also, I don't think this year is really any better than the last, despite one OCS person telling me it was going to be more like 2008 than 2009. There seem to be a fair number of people still with 0 callbacks.

Re: Columbia EIP 2010 Callbacks Thread
Has anyone received rejection letters/emails from Latham NY and/or Davis Polk NY?
I haven't heard anything from either. I guess this means I'm on hold?

I'm hoping you're right about Latham, and I'm fairly certain that you are for DPW - they definitely have sent out rejection letters by snail-mail.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone received rejection letters/emails from Latham NY and/or Davis Polk NY?

For those who received a Quinn callback, did you already schedule the callback? Or, did they only invite you to the callback to be scheduled later?

I would also love to know this. Has anyone heard about DC interviews from any of these firms? Surely someone has heard of a Jones Day CB, it's almost been two weeks.Anonymous User wrote:same q re: the DC market. any word from Jones Day, Sidley, Arnold & Porter, Kirkland, O'Melveny?

Hahaha, I feel like this question is asked literally every 5 pages.Anonymous User wrote:How'd the sub-median kids end up doing? Any thoughts?
Sub-median here, 7 callbacks ranging from V-10 through the V-100.

wow, nice going. are you just a hair below median (and could easily pass for "median") or substantially and clearly below median?Anonymous User wrote:Hahaha, I feel like this question is asked literally every 5 pages.Anonymous User wrote:How'd the sub-median kids end up doing? Any thoughts?

Yeah. I'm the bottom of the barrel in terms of grades. Top notch in personality, of courseAnonymous User wrote:why do you say so? did you not expect to have any?Anonymous User wrote:I only have two, but I'm not so worried. Should I be? I would say...between those two. Not "just a hair" but not awful. The median of sub-medians!Anonymous User wrote:wow, nice going. are you just a hair below median (and could easily pass for "median") or substantially and clearly below median?Anonymous User wrote:Hahaha, I feel like this question is asked literally every 5 pages.Anonymous User wrote:How'd the sub-median kids end up doing?
