Anyone with offers from D.Del? I've interviewed with one Judge and haven't heard back yet. I assume the others won't be calling.

Had an interview with one last week, he/she said they had a couple of more candidates this week, assuming since I haven't heard anything that I'm not getting the position.ottamymind wrote:Anyone heard from any ED La judges in New Orleans yet?

As for D. del, i know someone that interviewed there and hasnt heard back also. Hopefully it's the same judge and you both still have a shot.

Just noticed an error in a thank you note I send to a judge after an interview that went extremely well... I hate my life.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
Just FYI. I had this one judge that my application was borderline embarrassing. Minor (i.e., spacing) typos in my resume, a conspicuous typo in my OSCAR gradesheet, and (IIRC) a typo in my cover letter. I'm currently in my second month of a clerkship with him/her.Just noticed an error in a thank you note I send to a judge after an interview that went extremely well... I hate my life.
Bottom line: I wouldn't worry about a typo in a thank-you note. There's a 97% chance it won't be noticed, and if it is, another 97% chance it won't be outcome determinative.

Year: 3L
School/Tier: T60
Grades: Top 1/3
LR?: Secondary EIC
Published?: No
SA position?: No - prestigious public interest gig and FPD internship
Anything else we should know: school year DCt internship
Number of Magistrate Applications: 10
Number of D. Ct. Applications: 45
Number of Circuit Applications: 1
Number of Specialty Court Applications: 5
Total interviews: 1 DCt (not my internship judge, but a judge-friend of his in a different district where I have significant ties)
Offer(s): So close, yet so far away
It was a long shot, but I'm still crushed.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
I'm really late to this thread (and it also looks like my luck was a bit anomalous), but for whatever it is worth, here is how things went for me.
Year: 3L
School: T20
Rank: Top1/3
LR: Secondary
Other: Apparently I have improved my interviewing skills since OCI lat year.
SA: Mid-sized firm, secondary market (maybe tertiary market)
D.Ct. Applications: about 20
Circuit applications: 3
State court applications: 29
Interviews: 2 state court, 1 circuit court, 1 D.Ct (though it might be worth noting that I accepted my offers before many courts made decisions)
Offers: 1 State Sup. Ct. (2013-14), 1 Circuit Ct. (2014-2015). Both accepted (obviously).

I have had 8 interviews, and already been rejected by 5 judges. I must be cursed.

I'm wondering how people are able to make calls the chambers. I called the 2nd cir today to get the number for a certain judge and was informed that the phone number was not given out to the general public.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
When people talk about calling a judge, they mean calling the judge's judicial assistant. The person with whom you spoke probably thought that you were asking for the judge's direct line, which isn't given out. Call them back and ask for the JA's number.Anonymous User wrote:I'm wondering how people are able to make calls the chambers. What nevdash said - but also, chambers main phone numbers are typically available via the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary, which can save you time relative to calling the court.

Did you have profs making calls for you? If so, how many/are they particularly well-known or connected?
