Just to be clear, Skadden Boston doesn't only do M&A--they have a legit and well regarded litigation group. If you meant that they only do M&A on the corporate side, that's pretty much true. They have very small groups in Investment Management and Executive Compensation/Benefits, but you can't count on those groups to be hiring in any given year.

I have also heard bad things about the work environment.
Skadden Boston will grind your ass out faster than other Boston firms. You'll be working 9AM - midnight (or later) regularly, not 9-6 or 7 with the occasional late night.
Is this from personal experience? True on lit and corp sides?
When I did my screener with Skadden, the partner interviewing me seemed incredibly exhausted. He was totally zoned out. I guess it's not fair to judge a firm based on one person on one day, but it definitely made an impression on me.

if the skadden poster is at BC just go ask a professor.. we have a relatively young prof that worked there as an associate within the past 5 years

a former legal assistant there told me it was a really bad place to work, but I think that is a general complaint of most staff members at big law firms. I think its a general fact of life that the ratio of pay scale to aggravation determines your perception of how pleasant a job is.

9-6 or 7 ---> Are you sure that is the typical day for a 1-4 yr associate? Have you looked at the billable requirements, its almost impossible to make it work like that.

Also, is there anyone else who hasn't been dinged from Weil Boston yet from OCI? They either forgot about me or I'm in some sort of back up pile.

Anyone hear from Mintz yet? Someone said that offers would come "on or shortly after 9/1." I'm not sure if they actually started on Sunday/Monday, if today was the first day of offers, or if they haven't started. A thread from a previous year noted that the hiring committee met on Wednesdays, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.

I was told that Mintz will only have seven summers in the Boston office and two offers will go to law students who previously worked as project analyst at the firm.
