it is also likely at a number of people at cls last year who did not receive an offer got offers from other firms they were more interested in and took themselves out of the running before hearing back.Anonymous User wrote:i think they actually callback A LOT of pple. from columbia's info last year they called back 13 out of 15 people from first rounds, and then made offers to 0 of them. really weird system of you ask me. but judging from this they seem to be pretty picky.

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
true but i think it also means no columbia students were in the first round of offers from seward either. if they had time to get offered from another firm, consider it, then accept it, then withdraw from seward, they were probably in the hold pile to begin with.

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
certainly a possibility. but you have to keep in mind that cls has their eip/oci earlier than most schools in the ny area, and seward having a smaller class size is likely to want to see more people before making decisions (as opposed to rolling decisions at the much larger firms), and thus cls students who schedule their callbacks on the early side may face an extra week or two of waiting, during which it is possible they may hear back from the larger ny firms and then withdraw.Anonymous User wrote:true but i think it also means no columbia students were in the first round of offers from seward either. if they had time to get offered from another firm, consider it, then accept it, then withdraw from seward, they were probably in the hold pile to begin with.

theoretically, the "hold" pile could be pretty damn big as of yet. This could take a while. Second round/third round of offers?

If the ratio from callback to offer at CLS was that last year, can't you argue that their hold pile is actually very small?

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
well, according to this thread, they have 6 spots open, and assuming these spots were already offered out (i.e. waiting for yield), I would imagine they would keep the pile as BIG as possible (within reason), since they don't want some of the "hold" pile kids rejecting thier offer too! If they had a small pile, they would run the risk of having a potentially empty spot.Anonymous User wrote:If the ratio from callback to offer at CLS was that last year, can't you argue that their hold pile is actually very small?
It seems to me that they would just have a big pile, make everyone wait around, until they are done. Wouldn't that make more sense??

I just spoke with Royce Akiva and withdrew. She is an extremely nice lady. From our conversation, it appears that they've got a number of students that they are planning on offering, but have enough offers out now to fill the class, which leaves them in limbo. I would expect to see some more slight movement here.

I heard about someone at my school who called just to see what was going on and got an offer the next day....just saying.

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
im gonna guess its the lifestyle. if you talk to their assoicates in the investment funds group they say they rarely work weekends and are out at a reasonable hour during the weekends. i think if u look them up on nalp their billable reqs are only 1700 if i remember correctly. plus they pay market. what more could u want?

Wait are the hours really reasonable? Bumping. I would not mind picking a NY market paying firm where I can leave by 7 or 8 every night.

The partner I interviewed with openly said no NYC firm is a lifestyle firm, but Seward does make an effort.
