I was the OG OP on what you quoted, but not the person who provided the "longer way" response –– I'm top 5% of my class at a T10 school that has a focus on Big Law placement, if that's helpful. But, other people in the top 30% of my class (though primarily ppl on law review) have interviews with similar firms. If you have any other specific questions, I'll try to answer without giving too much away.becodalapa wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 10:29 amYou realize that this is just a longer way of saying "Above median at a T14. Have offer at NY V10 firm," right?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 7:22 pmFor sure. I can say that it is considered a prestigious school with national firm placement. A significant number of alums work at the firm where I have an offer. As for that firm, they handle high-profile commercial and litigation matters, among other categories where they are among the best of the field. Currently they are WFH. Hope this helps.MovingForward212 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:00 pmCan you give anymore info? Above median at T14 doesn’t really help others muchAnonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 12:31 pmAlso above median at T14. Have offer at NY V10 firm, callback at another NY V10 firm (as in, both top 10 in NY, where I am pursuing, not necessarily overall). Also went through the informal process of networking turning into callbacks.

For those who have been offered how long did it take the firm until they got back to you? Do they call for offers and do email dings? If so, do those both occur around the same time.

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
My offer took about two days. I have heard from other friends that some firms have said "by the end of the week" following a Monday callback, and others have said "in the next couple of weeks" because they're just beginning to interview. Offer was a call – I imagine dings are emails, but I'm not sure. I know, at least, following a screener for a V20 NY Firm, those who received callbacks got calls and those who did not received emails several days later.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 11:34 amFor those who have been offered how long did it take the firm until they got back to you? Good info. Did you accept your offer? Are they keeping it open for a while?
I had a call back last Tuesday. I know I took one of the first days they offered while they were conducting interviews. I haven't heard anything yet. I really thought it went well. But, it seems like it's difficult to read these things.

And when do we think it's ok to follow up with a recruiter after a CB to ask when we should expect a decision?

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
A friend of mine followed up hours after his callback to ask about timeline. I think it's ok to politely check in whenever, really, if they provided no information at all during/before/after the callback. Just make sure to phrase it in a way that doesn't sound impatient or expectant (obviously...).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 12:34 pmAnd when do we think it's ok to follow up with a recruiter after a CB to ask when we should expect a decision?

It seems that way to me. In the Bay Area only 1 firm with known movement. I've been reaching out to firms to try to do any pre-oci and pretty much told to wait until OCI. Top 5% at a T14.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 4:11 pmJust me - or is pre-oci exceptionally quiet this year?

holy crap. well, honestly you will be plucked as soon as OCI starts but that's insane. I'm NYC at a T1 - firms are moving but not much at all. I'm nervous that spots will be limited at NYC schools OCIs. Damnit, we work too hard for this.lawschool04! wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 5:32 pmIt seems that way to me. Re: Pre-OCI 2020
These are all based off of conversations with my classmates or friends at other T30s, but I've heard of offers accepted at Kirkland (west coast + Texas), White & Case (NYC), WilmerHale (DC), Paul Weiss (NYC), McGuireWoods, Goodwin (Boston), Foley & Lardner (south). Not saying these are the only offices that have extended offers at any of these firms, but these are the only offices I actually know with accepted offers.
Will also say that I'm not sure if it's people being more sensitive since this semester is so stressful, but haven't really heard of interviews/callbacks from friends who haven't accepted offers, which is to say people are either being quiet about it or it's concentrated only in a handful of candidates.

Have you heard how these offers were structured? Were the students given until up through OCI to respond? Or do they have to let them know quickly?covid2L wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 7:30 pmThese are all based off of conversations with my classmates or friends at other T30s, but I've heard of offers accepted at Kirkland (west coast + Texas), White & Case (NYC), WilmerHale (DC), Paul Weiss (NYC), McGuireWoods, Goodwin (Boston), Foley & Lardner (south). Can confirm a lot of this as well as offers out at Kirkland NYC & Chi, Paul Hastings NYC & DC, McDermott Chi. A lot of these were through networking but it seems to be highly variable. I know people at the top of my class who are still waiting to hear back from a lot of firms (even some of the aforementioned), so I don't know exactly what it is that's getting firms to interview some people and tell others to wait.covid2L wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 7:30 pmThese are all based off of conversations with my classmates or friends at other T30s, but I've heard of offers accepted at Kirkland (west coast + Texas), White & Case (NYC), WilmerHale (DC), Paul Weiss (NYC), McGuireWoods, Goodwin (Boston), Foley & Lardner (south). I've only heard of Chi K&E offers to folks who had 1L SA positions. Anybody in the process for White & Case? Did you do the video interview recording that was essentially a screener? & did you hear back?
