Gibson's made offers in their Houston office. Pretty sure V&E has as well - they're in the middle of callbacks currently.

Got a question for you guys that isn't worth making its own thread for. I'm applying to two different offices of the same firm both of which are doing their own recruiting and require their own separate cover letters. Ties to both markets. Is it bad if my cover letters for the two different offices are almost identical? I went to a networking event for office A and mentioned it in my cover letter for them, but I'm not sure if I should mention it in my cover letter for office B as it will make my two cover letters pretty much the same. Thanks and good luck out there everyone

Have a callback at one of O'Melveny/Latham and was told that this assessment was voluntary. Should I complete it? Seems like it might hurt my application more than help.

When did they tell you you’d hear back during the interview?

If it’s a part of your assessment and a firm makes it explicit you should complete it... then yeah, complete it.

I did a Koru7 assessment and I think it actually helped my application. From what I understand, each firm works with the company to develop a unique behavioral assessment. Your answers to the questions creates a behavioral profile. There’s no right or wrong answer - just answer honestly. It’s a way for firms to test “fit” in a way that’s not made clear during interviews. Your workstyle can be exactly what a firm wants but you weren’t able to translate that to your interviewer because of subpar interviewing skills. I think the only person it will hurt is the super anti-social people-hating always-wants-to-work-alone type.

Crazy amount of movement right now (at least in Texas). Has there always been this much pre-OCI movement and I just didn't realize it, or is this a reaction to not having NALP rules?

They said it would be a couple of weeks because it was so early in the process

Do you think not completing the survey would jeopardize my chances of getting an offer? I was told that the survey is voluntary, but who knows if it truly is.

It's just one more thing in your file that a firm would use to assess whether or not they'd make you an offer. Not to mention, it's a new thing so who knows how much weight is being placed on the survey. That being said, if OMM/Latham says its voluntary, then it's voluntary. So no, you don't have to do it if you're worried it could hurt your application more than help - you're in the best position to judge whether the survey could reveal traits about you that you'd rather keep hidden.

To reiterate my point above, there's no right or wrong answer because the behavioral survey assesses whether you fit their culture. Just out of curiosity, why are you hesitant about doing it?

I was the one who said that, and I'm seeing it in my Austin and Houston applications/the news I'm hearing from other applicants in those cities. I didn't submit any in Dallas so I can't speak to that.

Received post-screener ding from Skadden. 2 days from screener to rejection.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
