I did not say shit. Not really interested in your hypotheticals. Y'all can expense what you want at your own firms. My shit gets approved.cavalier1138 wrote:But you're saying that you could get a TV with marketing fund money at this imaginary firm?sparty99 wrote:Don't know, don't care. Re: Secretary Christmas Gift
I think sparty is getting away with this because his expense reports aren't super detailed and the amounts aren't that big.
His employer may assume that a random gift card around the holiday season has reasonable nexus to traditional marketing if the expense report reads that the gift card is for a "client."
I suspect it's the same with the dinners ....someone just sees a receipt for a fancy dinner and a few drinks and assumes there is some legitimate nexus to marketing (maybe the other party has to pay for their own dinner so the receipt turned in only reflects the cost of sparty's dinner).
As they say, hate the game, not the player. I personally don't think the risk is worth the reward, but I'm very risk averse.
IF that's what's happening, I think sparty could be in hot water if he gets found out. But then again, if the amounts are fairly small, buried in other legitimate marketing expenses and are rare maybe no one ever asks any questions.
Although, I would say that if you're going to expense the Christmas gift you should give a more generous amount. At least $100....never know when you might be on fire and need her to spit on you.

Nah, he shouldn’t bump it up from 50 to 100. Thats 50 less that could be better spent on new televisions, weekend getaways, or fancy dinners in Gramercyrcharter1978 wrote:I think sparty is getting away with this because his expense reports aren't super detailed and the amounts aren't that big.
