I don't get why people who aren't legit midlevels or higher care that much about bonuses, tbh. For juniors, all bonuses are pretty much crap money compared to your law school tuition/rents/etc. Sad to say but you've already dug yourself into a financial hole - why care now?

i iz midlevel so i have all teh cares

that aside, once you've felt the SOULCRUSHING nature of this job, you'll invariably pine for any and all compensation potentially obtainable in a desperate effort to rationalize the terrible choice you made by not dropping out after first semester 1L and doing something else

More like you're already fucked anyway, so why bother obsessing over it. Let do what it do.

I guess man. The obsessing is obviously silly but I'm not gonna act like it doesn't matter to me if I get an extra $25k or $30k or whatever in my paycheck. All the more so because it gets my loans that many months closer to paid off.

Plus any back tracking is bad for us. If we go back to 2013 BONEUS, we'll never get more when we are midlevels. By the time 2012 is midlevels, the fallout from the layoffs in 09 will be completely washed away for all time.
if it's 2013 level, I'm going to close office door, bury face in office chair and scream as loud as possible

might even throw a pen or two

10k is still 10k. That's a huge dent in student loans (especially since a 10k payment now= 11k over five years) and a huge bump in QOL (huge vacation, massive Christmas gifts). Heck, it's what most Americans spend in two months.

It's easy to consider this all monopoly money with student loans this high, but absolute value still matters.

A $10k bonus is only about $6k of cash you can put towards your student loans today.

Yeah, why should the first-year desperately trying to escape debtpwnage before the next Lathaming give a shit? It's much more consequential whether that fifth year is gonna be able to swing that Hell's Kitchen condo his bitch wife wants or whether they'll have to settle for Irvington.

10k is 40k pro-rated. NOBONUS to $40k!

Agreed, unless 10k is the assumed difference between maximum possible bonus and minimum possible bonus for 1st-years.

Already did this like a week ago in anticipation (all announcements by CSM unless otherwise noted):

2014: 11/21 (preempted by STB; edit: I think CSM matched STB on 11/24 before getting falcon punched by DPW)
2013: 12/2
2012: 11/26
2011: 11/28
2010: 11/22
2009: 11/2
2008: 11/20 (preempted by Skadden on 11/19)
2007: 10/29

The only other year with a December announcement in the last 9 was 2013. Pre-ITE, seems like CSM announced in advance of Thanksgiving. ITE, announcements have been the Monday following Thanksgiving (except last year and this year).
