What percentage of CBs turn into offers at big 4? How are CBs at YCST? Fit and why delaware the most important factors?

How do you sell an interest in DE? Spent all of 30 mins there ever, and have a callback at one of the big 4.

Same, had screeners with all of big 4 + skadden, CB's with PA and RFL. Still waiting to hear from skadden, but since quoted anon had a cb I assume my ding is on its way. Still waiting to hear from YCST and got dinged by MNAT.Anonymous User wrote:Had screeners with the big 4 + skadden, heard back from 3/4 with callbacks and also have a cb scheduled with skadden. Mass mailed two smaller DE firms, one rejection and one 'sorry no summer program this year'.Anonymous User wrote:Those of you who have already had a screener with RLF/YCST/MNAT/PA/Any of the satelite offices in DE, have you heard back yet? I had a couple of screeners with these firms in early August (one satelite office, one with RLF/YCST/MNAT/PA) and I haven't heard back at all.
EDIT: I did also have a screener with a small local firm and I already got a ding from them.
Talk about how it's the corporate capital, and sell an interest in corporate law. Talk about small city living but big law work, how much further money can go in DE, as opposed to same income in higher COL NYC or DC. Talk about the Court of Chancery and its prestige. Finally, talk about how since its mostly smaller firms young associates can get more experience early on. Note, I'm a 2L in the same position as you guys, but this is what I've discussed and it seemed to be the "right" answers to "why DE"Anonymous User wrote:How do you sell an interest in DE? Skadden took a week to get back to me, fwiw.Anonymous User wrote:Same, had screeners with all of big 4 + skadden, CB's with PA and RFL. To above anon with CB from YCST and Skadden: may I ask when you interviewed? Are you T14?

Has anyone received a ding from YCST after the screener? I interviewed a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard back.

Interviewed during OCI, within the last few weeks. I'm not at a T14. T2, Top 10% with LR. I had some pretty convincing 'Why DE' reasons, though.Anonymous User wrote:To above anon with CB from YCST and Skadden: may I ask when you interviewed? Are you T14?

Re: Have you considered... Delaware?
Can anyone tell me what their CB experience was like at YCST. What's the culture like?
I'm going to use the why DE reasons here but any tips on how to make it more convincing? Also, what's the conversion rate from CB to offer?

Re: Have you considered... Delaware?
It was EXTREMELY laid back. The recruiting assistant gave me cliffs notes on all of my attorneys as I was escorted to their offices. No one asked any tough questions, all just very laid back chatting. The culture just is very relaxed seeming from that snapshot and that day.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone tell me what their CB experience was like at YCST. What's the culture like?

TO make it more convincing, believe it. Actually want it, don't just say it.

I know PA has around 3-4 offers out already. Hiring committee at PA meets tomorrow and at least some decisions will be made, so hopefully some more offers roll out from there tomorrow or Wednesday. Can't say for other 3.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone get an offer from big 4 this month?

I felt the same way about by YCST CB too. Everyone was so nice and it seemed so laid back. If I get it, I'll accept.

Also, PA is still doing CBs into late September. I know someone scheduled almost a month from now.Anonymous User wrote:I know PA has around 3-4 offers out already. Some notes on DE:
- QOL depends. COL is incredibly low, we're talking luxury apartments in downtown DE/ the nice parts maxing at $1500-1600 per month. No sales tax, either. If you live downtown, not much need to travel.
- Market rate for first-years is $145,000.
So say you work in DE and get a non-luxury apartment. You're taking a pay cut of $15,000 from other markets, but you're paying at least $2000 less per month than in New York on rent (unless you have roommates). Your $145,000 goes substantially farther in DE than in NY.
Also, you get the chance to work with huge clients, and more of them than pretty much any other market, simply because of the Chancery courts.
So if you're willing to live in a less economically prosperous area, and work with a less prestigious firm (unless Skadden), DE is a pretty sweet deal.

But it's boring right? Food seemed like it was the same price at like $10-11 for a sandwich. Also, didn't seem like there were that many options/ choices, but I digress.
What's QoL in terms of work hours? How's it compare to v30-v50 NYC shops.

Know of at least 3, not 100% sure when they all came out.Anonymous User wrote:Any callbacks/offers out of Skadden Wilmington?
It's one of the cool things about it. Warning, living in Philly and working in DE costs a hefty bit in taxes because of the city tax.Ron Mexico wrote:wow I did not know that Delaware was so close to Philadelphia.

Had a cb last week with PA before the last recruiting meeting, guess I'm out of the running.
