I would agree. I've noticed that inferiority complexes seem to be pretty prevalent in law students--at least the ones at my school.

That's because they all have an inflated but fragile sense of self-worth, believing themselves to be special or superior when compared to everyone else, but often at a loss to justify that sense of superiority, so they are constantly seeking both superficial validation for it and frequently affirming it themselves in the least tactful ways possibleAnonymous User wrote:moonman157 wrote:That's indisputably obnoxiousAnonymous User wrote:FB post from someone at my school: "OMFG I'm not going to have to turn tricks on the street next summer!!!"

It's an over generalization, but s/he makes some valid points. Many, many law students are not able to be humble about their successes (at least at my school).

Lower T14, medianishAnonymous User wrote:Congrats! I've still had 0 luck after mass mailing a couple hundred firms. What're your stats if you don't mind?Anonymous User wrote:Let's get this club back on topic. OP here.
Still 0 CBs. But snagged my first screener from a massmail. I'll take that crumb
Also, anyone else in the same boat as me?: radio silence from multiple firms 4+weeks after OCI screeners
I had a rejection-chuckle today though. "...we cannot respond affirmatively to your inquiry at the present time." How about just a simple "No." That would be refreshing.

I know you probably mistook this for the 0 offer thread (or are trolling) but you JUST had 3 cbs and you have 3 more. You don't belong in any "club"
You just seem late to the party. It's way too early for you to make any conclusions. Good luck with everything.

Stay hopeful guys. I just got my 1st CB this morning. If you haven't been dinged, then you're still in the running.

Still in the club. Guess it's time to start searching for some unpaid gigs

Not part of the club anymore, but I wanted to post to say DO NOT give up. I just received a CB invite from a V100 firm this past Thursday. I started being more focused on firms with larger classes in my home market that hadn't rejected me yet by contacting alumni partners. Continue to look at smaller and medium-sized firms as well.Anonymous User wrote:Still in the club. Guess it's time to start searching for some unpaid gigs
It's not over and unpaid gigs aren't the only options at this point.

Echoing this. Went from 0 cbs to 6 cbs, most of them in the past 2 weeks.Anonymous User wrote:Not part of the club anymore, but I wanted to post to say DO NOT give up. Also, may I ask... how did you contact the alumni and what did you say? Did you cold call or email them?

Re: 0 CBs Club
There are also mid-size and boutique firms, as well as in-house gigs that will be hiring for a while. I ended up with a pretty well paid in-house job last summer that I didn't get until mid-May. I also had a couple of smaller firm interviews through April. Actually ended up getting big law after doing JD/MBA.
I emailed alumni and then asked them if they had time to talk on the phone. This is way less annoying than just calling them, I think. Got a few interviews doing that.

Is there a specific way to target in house positions? Specifically, where do you look to find them?

Company websites and job sites (monster, LinkedIn, etc.). Also, lawstudentjobs.net is a decent resource.

Re: 0 CBs Club
So guys, I have sent out around ~250 apps (from mid-Aug to today), yet to get a single screener let alone a CB.
I've been submitting via the usual online app system or generic recruiting address on the websites. For those that didn't reject me yet, I've followed up around 2-3 weeks after my initial submission. What else should I be doing? Would reaching out to alumni at those firms that I've applied to make a difference? I've kept my expectations grounded, but not getting anything at all is increasingly frustrating...to the point where I no longer want to massmail.
If it matters, I'm a transfer student at a T-14 (from a T-25).

Yes, absolutely contact alumni at the firms you haven't been rejected by. Even better if you share both undergrad and law school with them. My only successes from mass mailing have come after I have done this.Anonymous User wrote:So guys, I have sent out around ~250 apps (from mid-Aug to today), yet to get a single screener let alone a CB.

Yes reach out to alumni or anyone you can. Wont guarantee it works but can't hurt. Ive also found that when following up the most success I've gotten is through offering a date you I come in and interview, I didn't even actually have dates I was planning to be in my target markets but was more than ready to go there if given an interview. Makes for a relatively low risk proposition for the firm to have you come through for an interview if you are already in the area.
Also 250 isn't that many. Keep applying to new places indiscriminately.

Previous anon here. So what should go in the e-mail to the alumni? Should the essence be on learning more about the firm, or to have him take my application and put in a good word for me?
