Bumping for 2015.
CB offer via MM. Any summers around these parts want to share their experience? Does it seem safe to say the horror stories littered on this forum from around the crash are a thing of the past?

Can anyone speak to their non- NYC offices? Is that atmosphere more relaxed or just as bad?

Mind sharing what practice group? ATL says that one of the presumably "legendarily nasty" partners just got shitcanned.Anonymous User wrote:This is 2nd hand but a buddy of mine who went there in 2012 is still there and he hates his life.

The Charlotte office goes hard with work just the same as the NY office (and every other BigLaw firm), but the people are all nice so it's not as bad as it could be.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone speak to their non- NYC offices? Is that atmosphere more relaxed or just as bad?

Thanks. Are you working there? It's one of the interviews I think I'm most excited for but there's a lot of negativity about it on here.Anonymous User wrote:The Charlotte office goes hard with work just the same as the NY office (and every other BigLaw firm), but the people are all nice so it's not as bad as it could be.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone speak to their non- NYC offices? I'm there, and will say that in certain transactional groups things seem very very busy, but everybody is nice (no screamers, associates get along with each other, partners chat with associates and secretaries, everybody maintains a pleasant demeanor, etc). I don't know how the work levels compare to other firms, particularly other NYC firms, so maybe if you're concerned that the workflow is heavier than comparable peer firms, ask around and see what kind of hours associates elsewhere are pulling.

any impression of the lit groups? (Ideally, if you've interacted with them, in NYC)

Re: Cadwalader CB --> offer
Very nice, definitely have better hours, but on the flipside, very slow. From what I seen, a really fun group of people who definitely seem to have more time to go to happy hours, lunches etc. They have plenty of assignments to hand out to summers, but I've heard rumors that they aren't handing out many offers this year, which has people who came in really wanting lit worried. I came in wanting transactional, so I haven't really looked into what this means for long term options, but at the very least, I'd be cautious coming in really wanting litigation because it just doesn't seem like they don't make a lot of offers into that practice group. That said, who the heck knows what hiring will look like two years out.
