First contact. Never received a prescreening call. I did get an email asking if I was still interested a few days before, but nothing about an interview. Enforcement. I applied to the post-clerkship one, if that matters.Anonymous User wrote:Those of you with the on the spot interviews, is this after you received the pre-screen initial call to see if you are interested and would like to set up an interview to be determined at a later date? or is this your first contact with SEC since submitting the app? For me it was after the pre-screening interview. It was my third contact with the SEC. I can tell you that the divisions listed are moving on to formal interviews. I have a formal interview scheduled.

I am confused. Is the SEC chair's Attorney Honors Program divided into sub categories between judicial clerks and non-judicial clerks? I thought they all bundled into one?Anonymous User wrote:First contact. Never received a prescreening call. Did you find out about the formal interview after the on the spot interview? Or were they for different divisions?Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Those of you with the on the spot interviews, is this after you received the pre-screen initial call to see if you are interested and would like to set up an interview to be determined at a later date? or is this your first contact with SEC since submitting the app? Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
I got a pre-screen and was told i will be contacted for phone interviews within the next couple of weeks (this was a week ago). I haven't heard anything since. My understanding is that it’s just a matter of scheduling and coordination and we probably shouldn't look to much into how random/untraditional these interviews are.Anonymous User wrote:First contact. There were separate applications for clerks and for post law school. I'm not sure if it's just one program, but the applications were separate.Anonymous User wrote:I am confused. Did anyone else notice that the job posting said you have to be admitted to a bar before starting work?
Other agencies generally allow up to 14 months after commencing work.
Thoughts on this?

Can you elaborate on what the "hard interview questions" were?Anonymous User wrote:So I had a phone interview for this that was kinda crazy. No advance notice that an interview was coming. Don't want to give too many details but I just picked up the phone and it was one of the head SEC people who immediately started asking hard interview questions. Needless to say, I completely fucked it up. Fortunately I already have a job elsewhere but damn that was brutal. Happy that I at least got an interview though. SEC was a nice dream.

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
They mostly pertained to why I wanted to switch from the current area of the law I am working in to the SEC. Also, some pretty specific questions about why that division of the SEC. Why I am not pursuing another specific federal agency. Also a few basic behavioral interview questions. I don't know if the questions themselves were hard, it was more how specific the questions were and the lack of an opportunity to prepare at all. No hypos though--i actually would have preferred hypos because they don't require background research.Anonymous User wrote:Can you elaborate on what the "hard interview questions" were?Anonymous User wrote:So I had a phone interview for this that was kinda crazy. When you say second, are you counting the pre-screen as one of the phone interviews or are you saying you had 2 additional interviews after the pre-screen interview. And if you dont mind, which division?Anonymous User wrote:I had a second round phone interview this week.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone had a second round of phone interviews?

It was the interview after the pre-screen interview (where they asked why I was interested in the SEC, etc. and was a bit out of the blue). This was with ENF.Anonymous User wrote:When you say second, are you counting the pre-screen as one of the phone interviews or are you saying you had 2 additional interviews after the pre-screen interview. If you don't mind, can you provide your stats? Are you currently clerking? Are you a veteran?Anonymous User wrote:It was the interview after the pre-screen interview (where they asked why I was interested in the SEC, etc. and was a bit out of the blue). Second round of interviews. I wonder what is going to happen/when people are going to hear back.
Good luck to everyone.

I didn't think regional offices were hiring either, but I got an interview invite with one earlier today and they said that they were.Anonymous User wrote:Regional offices are hiring as well?Anonymous User wrote:A certain regional office is now extending interviews.
