Can anyone PM me about K&L Gates Pittsburgh if you know anything about the no-offers from the last two summers (other than what NALP says)? Thanks so much.

I wouldn't accept the cold offer until Oct 1. I'd try to find another firm. It's not at all obvious that she got cold offered.

What did they do, in general terms.
S&C, or the friend? S&C apparently said something along the lines of, you can return, but you should consider other options. Friend is shell-shocked and unclear on what exactly happened/caused the problems, and also still contemplating accepting the cold offer. I don't work at S&C, so I've had no experience working with said friend and haven't heard anything from their coworkers that would explain things. Friend is a sociable person, especially by S&C's rather low standards for personality/"fit". I am very surprised.
Why would S&C make a cold offer. Did s/he get an offer letter? Did her/his grade drop during 2L? Did s/he get good reviews? Did s/he do anything inappropriate at social events?

Is it a cold offer if you are offered with the whole "when you come back...", but a senior associate who was formerly your fraternity brother tells you at a bar a post-summer night on the town that you should consider trading up? The concept of trading up had never come up previously, or crossed my mind.

No.
Do firms make cold offers because they're being nice, care about ATL, or both?

I gotta assume they care about their 100% being on ATL and NALP.

I think grade drops are a flame unless it's really, really profound. Why would a firm care if your work product and fit is up to par? Partners even said that for laterals they disproportionately care about 1L grades, because that's when everyone tries.

Since we're talking about cold offers, Hogan Lovells does cold offers.

Heard from someone close to him/her that they strongly suspected it to be work product since the no-offeree was very well liked from a social standpoint and not the type to make "fit" mistakes.

I'm fairly certain the PNW offices have a 100% offer rate this year. As far as K&L goes, I'd say the one thing to keep in mind is the northwest offices have a completely different culture than the East Coast offices. That might explain the difference in offer rates.

Anyone know about munger no offers? What they are based on besides 'writing' and whether it's worth being particularly concerned about? (i.e., could a no offer result from failing to line up an AIII clerkship by the start of summer?)

I doubt that's why you get a cold offer or no offer. It's always going to be a combination of the economy, work product, and social stuff. Sometimes one of the three is extreme, but unless you do something really crazy or turn it complete garbage, economic factors come into play. Obviously, anything that makes you more valuable like a clerkship is a positive, but they won't no offer you for not choosing to do a clerkship.

Sucks. Considering this alarming rate seems to be firm wide for them, it's likely that HQ told them they could only take six. It's too coincidental for each office to suddenly decide they don't like twenty-five percent of the people.

Bro, read page four and five, all these no offers are coming from k and l gates. What are the chances that the only shitty work product and split summers are coming from one firm.

Is K&L Gates the only firm that consistently no offered nationally?

I was worried about this from them. They did the same thing with the c/o 2014.

Do you have any idea how the Pittsburgh office fared? I have friends there and that is worrying.
Sorry, unfortunately I don't have any information about that office, I was referring to NC and TX. Maybe since it's the flagship office they fared a little better.
From the 23 SAs at the Pittsburgh office I've heard of 3 people getting offers so far and 4 people getting no-offered. None of those that didn't get offers had any immediately apparent red flags from what I saw.
FWIW, the Pitt office did hire people during the year, so at least some of the people that got no offered may have been fit/performance related.

Has anyone heard of any firms rescinding offers for summers who vanished into Neverland for like 7 weeks after the summer?

95% vs 100% SA offer rates is enough for me to pick 1 comparable firm over another because what else would I care about other than that

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
