Strasburger was giving callbacks during my interview late yesterday, which made me feel pretty stupid going in.Anonymous User wrote:Or Strasburger?

This happened with me too, but I think they were giving callbacks to the SMU students they interviewed on Tuesday.Anonymous User wrote:Strasburger was giving callbacks during my interview late yesterday, which made me feel pretty stupid going in.Anonymous User wrote:Or Strasburger?

Ok, I know they were already getting SMU callbacks out when I did my interview, so this may be correct.Anonymous User wrote:This happened with me too, but I think they were giving callbacks to the SMU students they interviewed on Tuesday.Anonymous User wrote:Strasburger was giving callbacks during my interview late yesterday, which made me feel pretty stupid going in.Anonymous User wrote:Or Strasburger?

Thought I would post this here to see if anyone had any input?
Anonymous User wrote:But arent they the best Dallas firm for corporate work? Where would people say the best firm to go to is if your goal is to make partner at a firm. Whether that be the initial firm or a firm that you lateral over too (so basically which TX firm would make it easiest to lateral to another firm if you are not on track for partner). Would that be V&E Houston or Baker Botts Houston?Anonymous User wrote:Don't go to HB Dallas. They aren't what they used to be for M&A. They lost some big partners to Akin. Since then, a number of associates have also left for other firms in Dallas.Anonymous User wrote:Baker Botts Houston, V&E Houston or Haynes and Boone Dallas? This is going to be what it comes down to for me, and I am really struggling. A little about me...I am looking at corporate (securities/M&A), summered at one of the above mentioned Big 3, and have offers from the other two at the moment. I am really struggling.
Also, I like Dallas and Houston. I think the work is "bigger" in Houston, but I like that HB in Dallas seems to do a broader range of work. I am concerned primarily with exit options (to another firm or in-house), pay and partnership chances. I get the feeling that V&E Houston might provide best exit options as they seem to be the best for corp work, but I also think they provide the lowest chance of partner.
any opinions?

best corporate work in dallas is probably VE, Weil, Jones Day, and Gibson. Depending on the sub-area.Anonymous User wrote:Thought I would post this here to see if anyone had any input?

I don't think it makes any difference. The process from screener to CB decisions moves way too fast for them to care.Anonymous User wrote:Are y'all doing thank you emails/notes after your screeners?

BB dallas wouldn't. They're great for IP in Dallas, but their corporate in dallas isn't as good.Anonymous User wrote:BB would beg to differnonprofit-prophet wrote:

Interesting, I have a hard time trusting this when HaynesBoone is not in the mix. I spent some time as a SA in Dallas. My take is that HB corporate is "better" than V&E in Dallas unless you only want energy. I will agree that V&E Houston has the best corp practice in Texas thoughAnonymous User wrote:BB would beg to differnonprofit-prophet wrote:

Haynes and Boone used to be very strong. But they really took a hit when those partners left this past fall. They also lost some very promising associates to other firms (Gibson and Akin mostly)Anonymous User wrote:Interesting, I have a hard time trusting this when HaynesBoone is not in the mix.
