So far, none of my dings or cbs have come as a surprise. I think that you can gauge the likelihood of getting a cb based on how well the interview went (with a few exceptions of course).

A lot. I think the majority of my screener dings were via snail mail. The majority, if not all, of by cb dings were also via snail mail.

Edit: looked through my inbox. Only 2 of my 6 screener dings were via e-mail.

Edit2: 2011 AJF e-mail dings from White & Case and Foley & Lardner
