they do plenty (Sun, Google, HP, etc). medical devices/life sciences is a big part of their practice, though. looks like most of their newest partners are in biotech. guess that's where they're growing.Desert Fox wrote:Does WSGR do no EE stuff?

Do you have 32 bids too? Since you guys have less options I would probably just bid everyone anyway.Desert Fox wrote:They are on the 3L bid list too, Fuck it, I'll bid them anyway.r6_philly wrote:They do, but doesn't look like they are hiring, I am shocked. Yea, 32 bids. I'm not even sure if there are 32 actual biding choices. There are 67 offices but places like Alston Bird, or WSGR take up like 6-8 offices and they only let you bid on one. I probably won't even use 32 bids.r6_philly wrote:Do you have 32 bids too? Cool. Blanket them all! I was having trouble using up my 32 bids. But alas, all done.

I agree w/ Desert Fox. I used 26/32 and got all the ones that were important to me. We'll see!

I just counted. 34 distinct firms. Unless you are from every region somehow, I don't see how you can get anywhere near 32.patentlaworbust wrote:I agree w/ Desert Fox. I used 26/32 and got all the ones that were important to me. We'll see!
God I hope I get an offer, so I can go on vacation instead of back to the PILP grind.

Any other rising 3Ls reluctant to bid out of concern that their 2L summer employer might find out and hold it against them when it's time to make offers?

I don't see why. You've already had a 10 week interview with them. If they didn't offer you based on that, they won't suddenly change their minds because you're enjoying a lovely table chat at embassy suites.angrybird wrote:random question: my 1L employer is going, i should bid them, right?

Re: Loyola Patent Fair 2012
i guess that's true. in my case, i'd ultimately prefer to work for a different office of the firm than the one i'm at this summer, so i (probably) wouldn't be interviewing with people i'd worked with. still, i think you're probably right.wiseowl wrote:I don't see why. I'd be curious to know what others think about this...Anonymous User wrote:Any other rising 3Ls reluctant to bid out of concern that their 2L summer employer might find out and hold it against them when it's time to make offers?
My 2L SA is a boutique but not one which participates in PLIP. Although a full time offer isn't guaranteed (but I can expect 1), could I potentially be jeopardizing that by bidding here? In other words, is there a risk that my firm could find out about this, or if they did find out about it, whether it could be considered disloyal (even though I haven't been made my offer yet)?

Re: Loyola Patent Fair 2012
I really doubt it. First of all, they aren't going to find out. Second, it's not disloyal they haven't given you an offer. If it comes up, "I'll take your offer if you give it, but til then, I gotta cover my ass."Anonymous User wrote:I'd be curious to know what others think about this...Anonymous User wrote:Any other rising 3Ls reluctant to bid out of concern that their 2L summer employer might find out and hold it against them when it's time to make offers?

the only thing you could conceivably owe them is a heads-up before you accept a full-time offer from someone else, and that's really more for your benefit than theirs (assuming the new offer isn't better). you should definitely continue to aggressively pursue job opportunities.

What if 2L summer program overlaps with PLIP? Would it be okay to ask for time off during the summer program to go to PLIP? The firm/boutique will also be at PLIP.

The firm I worked at allowed the summers to end their summer program early and go to PLIP (it was during the last 2 days of the program). We were told if we would be getting offers or not just before it, and those who did not went to PLIP.Anonymous User wrote:What if 2L summer program overlaps with PLIP? That is very nice of the firm. I hope mine does this as well.Anonymous User wrote:The firm I worked at allowed the summers to end their summer program early and go to PLIP (it was during the last 2 days of the program). So, it seems wise to bid on firms now and make the decision whether or not to go later in the summer when you have a better idea of whether you will get an offer and how much you like the firm.

Re: Loyola Patent Fair 2012
Just to be clear, I'm not really very worried about what I might owe them. I'm only concerned with their perception of my decision to attend PLIP and whether it will hurt me in their decision making process. (My job ends before PLIP, but offers come after PLIP.)the only thing you could conceivably owe them is a heads-up before you accept a full-time offer from someone else, and that's really more for your benefit than theirs (assuming the new offer isn't better). you should definitely continue to aggressively pursue job opportunities.
And though I realize that they probably won't find out, I'm concerned that they might. My 2L SA will be on my resume and I know that recruiters talk.

I'm a newbie to the whole bidding system. So should I "Apply" to the firms I want to interview with now? Can I change my mind until May 3? Does this mean the firms will not be looking at my resume until May 3?

That's correct, you can change things around before 5/3 (apply/withdraw)Anonymous User wrote:I'm a newbie to the whole bidding system. So should I "Apply" to the firms I want to interview with now? What's the scoop on Goodwin Proctor's CA offices requiring EE degrees in just LA/San Diego? The those the only two offices the EE's work in, or is EE work concentrated there for some reason?

Look on their website. But there could be a number of reasons why they only need EEs in those offices.Anonymous User wrote:What's the scoop on Goodwin Proctor's CA offices requiring EE degrees in just LA/San Diego? That's not how I read it. I read it as they need EE in every office, but in those two office they only need EEs (as in they are not hiring other disciplines at those offices).Desert Fox wrote:Look on their website.
