Interview with Linklaters after mass mail. They are coming to OCI but I missed them on bidding. NYU...below median.

Did you mass mail firms you didn't even bid on by any chance?

I tried to only mass mail the ones I bid on, but I'm sure there were one or two in there that I did not bid on.

Did you call and set up Cahill yet? It seems like a callback more than a screener, what did you think?

Just set up a CB interview with the following Boston firms, after initially contacting them by mass mail: Ropes, Seyfarth, Foley, Goulston.

I tried to only mass mail the ones I bid on, but I'm sure there were one or two in there that I did not bid on.

I'm a different anonymous user from the quoted directly above, but I only mass mailed firms that I didn't bid on, or firms in my preferred secondary market (Boston).

Been sending them out continuously over the past 2 weeks. I tailor every single letter so I just do them one by one as they are completed. Not too late as long as you do it soon.

Chicago's been a sea of rejections and non-response for me so far. Top 3% at a T1 who grew up in a neighboring state.

KO's from Drinker Biddle, Jenner & Block, and Chapman so far. Something tells me the city's not in for an NYC-esque surge as some are hoping.

ETA: Jenner & Block fucked up and accidentally sent out a rejection email a week ago to me, only to retract it minutes later with an individual email saying it was sent in mistake. Then today I got the official rejection email. Again. Exact same one. No follow up saying it was a fuck up.

There is a firm I am interested in that was coming to my old school's OCI, but not my new school's program. So I sent out a tailored mailing. The firm then wrote me back saying that they were already planning on interviewing me through my old school's program (though I had yet to be informed of this), so they would be happy to just meet with me independently instead. So I guess the mailing itself didn't seal the deal, but it at least brought my name to their attention.

Yeah, I felt like I was cheating a bit. But I made sure to withdraw from my old school early enough for them to inform the firms. That my old school failed to rescind my resume isn't my fault, so I don't mind taking advantage of the benefits of getting a double-look from some firms.

I'm at a T10 school. I mass mailed over 60 firms ten days ago. So far I have 5 dings, 1 interview, and silence. Are firms just so swamped with paperwork that they can't even make time to respond to an email, or, do I just suck that bad?
