If you assume that everyone will look at law students as essentially glorified college students, then yes, B-cards are pointless.

However, as someone who worked for years in a network-reliant industry, b-cards are a necessary part of life, both social and work related. The only people who really think b-cards are douchey are those then generally never worked as professionals in an environment where contact information is critical. You need an easy way to network not just for OCI (if you are only doing that then you don't deserve a job after law school) but also bar get togethers, firm receptions, etc. It's an easy way to swap contact information.
