University of Cincinnati class of 2012
Hey everyone,
I ended up not getting money from Upitt and have decided that UC is for me. I visited recently so if anybody has any questions I'll try and answer. Anybody else going to UC?

I am about 99% sure I will be at uc in the fall. I will be up for the open house on Friday and will more than likely put my deposit down then. Anyone done any research on housing yet?

Are you getting the GRM rate? I found a few cool places in the newport KY area and bellevue area. Also, there is a couple decent apartment complexes in the ft. mitchell area (gettysburg square apts, etc). I've done no research in actual Cincinnati but heard Hyde Park is pretty cool. I have a friend who lives in northside, its a pretty okay area.jezabel wrote:I am about 99% sure I will be at uc in the fall. I've been looking at a few. I am scared the duplex neighbors might be loud though.

I been looking online... does anybody know if Clifton is a good area? (if not, how bad?)... I also heard Hyde Park is good but it's a 15 min drive and rent is about $200 more. I will 99% likely go as well.... if anybody has info please PM me, I can't make it to ASD b/c of military duties ... thanks!

I think Clifton is an iffy spot. Some parts are okay, some parts are not. I think the closer you get to the campus, the worse off it is. (that was my impression)usnwfu wrote:I been looking online... does anybody know if Clifton is a good area? (if not, how bad?)... the good part of Clifton is about a mile north of campus, around the intersection of Clifton and Ludlow Ave. I wouldn't live around Jefferson/Corry/W. Clifton/Ohio Ave/MacMillan/Euclid/Vine unless you are pretty tough and intimidating looking.jcwilsn1 wrote:I think Clifton is an iffy spot. Some parts are okay, some parts are not. Thanks! So im assuming I should stick to the Hyde Park Area? I know it's a longer commute but safety is pretty much my #1, I do have a car and plan on commuting here and there

I wouldn't say you have to live in Hyde Park to be safe. The northern part of Clifton is quite safe. Hyde Park is classier living though.

lol I was wondering this same thing. I'm nearly positive I'm going and doing the metro thing, but are you guys planning on living alone or finding a roommate?

Yeah I guess thats the way I'm kind of doing things too. I'm from Boston so it's not like I know anyone from the area or anyone going there so it might be tough to do anything other than living alone.

Re: University of Cincinnati class of 2012
while still in the preliminary stages, i am currently considering buying a 4 bedroom house in clifton and renting 3 rooms to other 1L's.
i should have definitive answers in 1 1/2-2 months about available rental properties.
if anyone is seriously interested and not bound by the NKY metro rate tuition, please feel free to PM me and i will keep you informed as more information becomes available.
