Last name starts with V. Finally, after years of having to wait 4 hours at graduation ceremonies, its my turn to reap the benefits of the alphabet. Muwhaha. Hey everybody. If you want to e-mail me at mina (dot) ford (at) gmail (dot) com, I can e-mail and copy everybody. I figured I'd post that here, rather than PM several people. I plan to delete my e-mail address from this post later on down the line. Then, if new people want to add, they can PM me and I'll add them to the list.
Regarding time, I am participating in a kickball tournament to gather items for the 779th Engineer Battalion in Iraq. That is advertised as going until 8 p.m. Not sure if it will be done by then or not. I may end up being late to the meetup at Finnegan's if it ends up being early evening. I;m find with whatever, though.
One cool thing about Finnegan's is that you can walk to Waterworks, which is a cool little place. So, if we feel like a little bit of bar hopping, that is possible. Just an option.

You've got one now! I'm not too pumped about three 8 am classes since I'm going to have a 20+ min drive with traffic (from the NE), but I'll get by. Time to do a little digging on our professors now.ame05d wrote:uugghh I want a section buddy!lrw05d wrote:+1Mortalnato wrote:

+1 on the long drive, I live in NE Tally and it takes me about 30 mins with the traffic...parking, however, might be interesting. ive always rented a parking spot, i gave it up this year since classes are early. hopefully it wont be a problem.meh wrote:You've got one now! I can do 9 but would prefer a little earlier (7:30 or 8?) if possible. I can manage either way.Lily wrote:Is 9 OK for the meetup at Finnegan's? Too early? Too late?
Which neighborhood are you in? I'm about to move pretty far up Thomasville Rd. and now that I look at it, it's definitely going to be more than 20 mins. Probably more like 30 mins from where I'll be depending on traffic.lrw05d wrote: +1 on the long drive, I live in NE Tally and it takes me about 30 mins with the traffic...parking, however, might be interesting. ive always rented a parking spot, i gave it up this year since classes are early. hopefully it wont be a problem.

wow, geography fail on my part. apparently its in SE Tallahassee. lol I live in Southwood, its one of those white picket fence-y planned communities. where on thomasville are you living? thats one of my favorite areas in Tally, really quiet and pretty with lots of cute restaurants/shops. the drive will be worth it.meh wrote:I can do 9 but would prefer a little earlier (7:30 or 8?) if possible. Haha yeah I know Southwood, it's really nice. I'll be living in Barrington Park. It's a condo/apt complex about 10 miles from the law school.lrw05d wrote:wow, geography fail on my part. apparently its in SE Tallahassee. lol I live in Southwood, its one of those white picket fence-y planned communities. where on thomasville are you living? thats one of my favorite areas in Tally, really quiet and pretty with lots of cute restaurants/shops. the drive will be worth it.meh wrote:I can do 9 but would prefer a little earlier (7:30 or 8?) if possible. You should be able to take Orange over toward school. Not sure what the traffic is like, but they just extended Orange so commuters from Southwood have an additional way to get across town.lrw05d wrote: wow, geography fail on my part. apparently its in SE Tallahassee. lol I live in Southwood, its one of those white picket fence-y planned communities. where on thomasville are you living? thats one of my favorite areas in Tally, really quiet and pretty with lots of cute restaurants/shops. the drive will be worth it.

its definitely a good shortcut, although it can be a little scary at 3am since it doesnt have any streetlights. lolLily wrote:Hey, thanks for the tip!lrw05d wrote:yeah, ive lived there for 3 years so i have my little shortcuts. usually i take tram rd, its a faster speed limitLily wrote:You should be able to take Orange over toward school. I imagine Tram has half the traffic, too.

Re: Florida State University Class of 2012
I bought my books today! I know it's really early, but I'm going out of town until the 16th and I wanted to make sure I could get them all without a problem and try to grab all the used books I could. Also I was just excited and didn't see a reason why I should wait (I deferred the cost so that wasn't an issue). I bought all but one book used (from Bill's) and the total was $785! Kind of crazy considering fsu estimated our costs for books/supplies at $1200 for the year, and I didn't even look at things like commercial guides/outlines or any school supplies I might need.

Oh man, so I totally need a little help. I'm quite possibly the worst when it comes to making decisions, but I'm debating between Evergreens at Mahan and Azalea Place (owned by Arbor Properties). I'll probably drive around southwood in a little while, since the girl who works at the front desk here lives there, and she said it's super adorable or something.
If you guys have any word-off-the-street knowledge of either place, I could totally use some swaying, since I need to decide before my flight out of here tomorrow morning (another tiny tiny plane. i'll let you guys know if it's socially acceptable to drink at 8:30am)
Speaking of which, Sunday the 16th at 8/9/whenever at Finnegan's Wake sounds great!

southwood is fabulous. ive lived there for a few years now in a house and i love it. its really quiet, theres a clubhouse/pool, a ymca, a town center with restaurants, and really nice paths for jogging/walking the dog. most people think its a bit far from campus, but its really not a lot further than the other places youre considering. overall, i think its a better package than a stand alone apartment complex. there are a couple complexes in the neighborhood itself (twin oaks and delaney park) and there are studio apartments (called carriage houses) that people rent out above their garages (not as sketchy as it sounds, lol) that are a pretty good value. check it out on craigslist, and let me know if you have any questions about the neighborhood! have a safe flight!kevinm wrote:Oh man, so I totally need a little help.
