leon pub is pretty small, but they actually just put an addition on and literally doubled their space. i imagine it wont be a super large group anyway. theres always finnegans wake, also a win in my book. im open to whatever!

i hope we find out our sections soon...uf already has theirs. :/
in other news, is it safe to say we all agree on Finnegan's Wake for the bar night? Whats the consensus on the date? I vote for Sunday the 16th, just to give everyone time to move in and get stuff ready before orientation.

Ok. So I'm having a hard time navigating the FSU financial aid site on blackboard. Can everyone else see their loan amount or financial aid award? I know I'm late doing this probably. But I have been holding out for a waitlist that is looking increasingly bleak.

Go to the "Secure Apps" tab
Choose "Financial Aid Student Toolkit" from the list. It's in the left column.
You should see a button that says "View your 2009-2010 Financial Aid Profile" Click it
There's a tab on the page that says "Fall/Spring Awards." click it
Scroll down and you should see some loans listed.
If you're still having trouble, you can e-mail Gail Rogers. She was very helpful when I was trying to figure out my financial aid stuff. I'll PM you her e-mail address.

also, what are you guys wearing for orientation?? I'm sure this sounds like a dumb question, I've just never really needed anything business casual and am worried about being either too formal or too casual... I picked up a couple things that should be fine, but I've heard different advice on the shoes issue (heels or flats or loafers?)

I posted a quote earlier which said schedules should be out next week. Makes sense since our required forms are due this Friday.ame05d wrote:dittoLily wrote:Date and location sound great to me.lrw05d wrote:i hope we find out our sections soon...uf already has theirs. :/

I was wondering the same thing for orientation. I can't imagine they'll expect you to dress up that much with a BBQ, Ice Cream social, etc lol I'm leaning towards business casual for the time being

Business casual, OK. Since you mentioned heels, I assume you're a female. I apologize if I have made that assumption in error. Heels or flats does not matter; just don't wear sneakers or flip flops. Business casual is something you would wear to work in a professional setting that is not a suit. For women, business casual is easier than for men. You wear a dress (not a formal dress, but just a dress) and you're golden. Any of the following would be business casual:ame05d wrote:dittoLily wrote:Date and location sound great to me.lrw05d wrote:i hope we find out our sections soon...uf already has theirs. :/

nice pair of pants/slacks with a button-up blouse
skirt and blouse
dress
As long as you don't wear these things, you should be fine:
jeans
flip flops (although I gaurantee someone is going to be wearing them. ugh)
very short skirt
fishnet stickings (ha!)
t shirt
anything too revealing
stretch pants/leggings
shorts
formal dress
suit (although you'll just look a bit out of place. It won't be a big deal if you wear a suit. Somebody will wear one.)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some "don'ts" but don't overthink it.
I plan to wear stuff like nice pants and a cardigan, a dress, etc.

Yep. The orientation schedule says that dress is business casual for orientation.Mortalnato wrote:I posted a quote earlier which said schedules should be out next week. While i feel bad for you, Im glad to know im not the only one.
I seriously just forgot about my community college transcripts. I sent everything else a while ago. In the email it says they can be faxed, but I highly doubt that, gonna call tomorrow.
On another note, what are all these places doing with my transcripts? They have my LSDAS transcripts, which have both my undergrad transcripts already. Plus they have my Bachelors transcript, which has my community college grades included. I mean, how many copies of my grades do they need? And why two copies? And what's the deal with airline food?

Haha, it's totally my fault--I'm terrible with submitting forms and whatnot in a timely manner. Luckily, the stuff can be faxed, so I'll do that tomorrow. My college has an online transcript request system, so I was able to take care of that today.ShadowRabbit wrote:While i feel bad for you, Im glad to know im not the only one.

The reason they need the transcripts? I think it's just to confirm that you have a degree. As far as I know, the LSDAS reports don't indicate any of that. You could probably call your CC and ask them if they'd accept a faxed copy of their transcript request form (most places won't send it over the phone). Luckily, July 31 is just the postmark date.

Similar story here. I went to two different schools during undergrad. When I spoke to the Admissions Office, I thought I was just supposed to submit an additional transcript from the niversity that awarded me my degree. Got an e-mail saying they needed my Loyola transcripts, too. Doh! I got that taken care of earlier this week, though. I think I'm set now.

Hells yeah! Excited and nervous. (: I've been out of undergrad for seven years. Going back to school will be a bit of a lifestyle change. I have to figure out how to budget my life on next to nothing. *sigh*kevinm wrote:Lucky for you. I'm, uh, what's the word I'm looking for? screwed. FWIW, i just called the admissions office and if you attended fsu for undergrad, you only need to send 1 copy of your transcript. (discovered this a bit too late.) also, they mean it when they say they want transcripts from ANY school you ever attended, even if you attended another school as a transient student for the summer term.

They didn't ask me about the school I attended while in high school (I did a couple calc courses while a junior/senior way back when). I sent those transcripts to LSAC, but do you think they want *every* school, including those attended when you weren't even pursuing a degree?lrw05d wrote:FWIW, i just called the admissions office and if you attended fsu for undergrad, you only need to send 1 copy of your transcript. i did a dual enrollment course at the local community college over the summer after my sophomore year of high school, and they wanted that. so id venture to say yes, probably. id call them to confirm, but thats what they told mekevinm wrote:They didn't ask me about the school I attended while in high school (I did a couple calc courses while a junior/senior way back when). I wonder what happens if you dont have a document in by the deadline. Like do they just outright drop you. "Since we didn't get a local Tallahassee address by July 31st, you're dead to us, sincerely, FSU"
