Re: Texas Class of 2012
I am from Illinois, but would love to go to Texas. Do you nonresidents that got in mind posting your GPAs/LSATs and any advice?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'm planning on moving August 1st as well and I'd certainly vote we keep this going ever onward.
If nothing else, we've got a long way to go to catch up with the UVA 2012 people--they're up to page 124 already

wannabe1L-
3.86/167.
UT likes a high GPA (I thought I saw you were around a 3.5) so even with a 170ish LSAT, you are going to be a coin-toss. That said, apply early and don't be afraid to be "real' with your personal statement. And as implied, kick the shit out of the LSAT

Re: Texas Class of 2012
I have a 3.5 and got in. I also applied late january.
My advice would be apply early. I see texas having an influx of out of state applicants in comming years, much like UVA did this year (which pretty much made it so that they stopped accepting out of state people late in the cycle).

Re: Texas Class of 2012
Like many others, I'm currently in Austin and am up for any get togethers. My schedule should be wide open in August.
We should definitely keep the thread going. I'd like to know someone in my section when classes start.

I'll post some "offical" OP updates once the time gets closer with names and sections, and we can use this thread as a meetup post, also.

For those of you who have received FinAid award information, are you accepting the GradPlus, or are you going private?

Re: Texas Class of 2012
I didn't research private loans, and so I am woefully ignorant on their terms, but aren't pretty much all private loans going to have an interest rate that is either higher than the 8.5% GradPlus rate or is variable and subject to shafting you up the ass with increased rates later on? GradPlus seems like the winner, here.longhornnyc wrote:For those of you who have received FinAid award information, are you accepting the GradPlus, or are you going private?

Re: Texas Class of 2012
Just accept the loans for now. You have to sign the promissory note before you actually owe the money. Accepting the loans now does not commit you to the obligation. You can back out if you find something better.longhornnyc wrote:For those of you who have received FinAid award information, are you accepting the GradPlus, or are you going private?

Bah! It just rained heavily here in Austin, right before I was going to go bike over to some errands near the school. Now I'm sitting here on my ass, bored and hungry, watching the rain. Anyone else bored today?

you got one of the few rainy days in a terrible drought season. "normally" this is supposed to be Austin's rainy season, but not right now...JazzOne wrote:I got freakin' soaked the first day of ASW. I believe you. There are some very old trees on my cousin's property in Dripping Springs that are starting to die.Esc wrote:you got one of the few rainy days in a terrible drought season. I was at Schliterbahn yesterday and we got rained out and had to come home. I feel like it doesn't normally rain this much, but I don't really know. I left for a few years so I could be remembering it wrong.

I heard it's supposed to be in the 80s most of this week. That would be nice.
