Anyone planning on reading up on any of the material before starting classes? From what I'm reading on the current law students forum posts, reading some resources (such as the E&Es) seems like a good way to get an overview before starting. I don't want to burn myself out early or just confuse the crap out of myself, though.
Yeah, I might just peruse some E&Es / outlines or maybe even peruse a hornbook or two if I'm feeling studious, but I'm not doing anything at all until the summer at least.

I am skeptical about the whole 'burning out' thing due to starting early. You'll be practicing law for decades to come, how could lawyers really get burned out so early? I think it's more of a law school senioritis thing - once you get to the end of the law school practice, you naturally start feeling burned out as you anticipate the next stage on the journey.
I'd personally go for a solid, thorough 1L preparation and not worry about the potential of being burned out.

Good choice Esc! In your case I really do think everything points to UT, and it's nice to see someone have the balls to use logic and get past the name.

Also, what is the likelihood I could get a travel stipend to help fund the visit?
I would think ASW would be more valuable than a normal class. No idea about stipends, but that's a good question.

UT did both a big ASW and 2 mini-visit days last year. I did a mini-visit day and it was great. Well worth the trip.
Also, they provided many of us with $200 stipends last year. Hopefully they do the same for ya'll.

It was mentioned in one of the various letters about visiting. Can't hurt to ask about getting money for travel though.
