My guess is that the higher floors get less street noise than the lower floors.robcali wrote:And another question: in these apartments, the higher-floor versions of the same room are more expensive. I've never lived in an apartment before. Could anyone who has tell me why this would be the case? Are they charging you more for a nicer view?

Re: NYU 2012
Haven't posted on here in awhile. But I have a few things to say:
Coursemaps (or whatever they are called at NYU) is up, so we can see the classes available through Albert.
May 15th is the deadline for housing deposit, if anyone hasn't done that yet.
I am getting PUMPED for 1L!

Re: NYU 2012
Hi Everyone-
I live in NYC (read: one mail day from NYU) and got a packet in the mail today!
Contents:
- info re requesting undergrad transcripts and "college questionnaire"
- info re immunizations
- info re laptop requirement, which includes info re: distribution of class assignments
- ads for campus computer store (get one at best buy, much cheaper!)
- academic calendar
Much of this is already available online, of course.
Highlights:
- we all have to get new transcripts sent and a college questionnaire filled out (the latter is due July 1)
- booklists (and some first day assignments) posted August 14th; profs may or may not assign reading for 1st class
- orientation does indeed start on August 19th
- there's going to be a final confirmation of intent to enroll form sent out July 27, due August 5
Anyone else getting excited?

I'm kinda excited. Not too excited about having to do that paperwork, but I suppose that's just more practice.
I'm going to be aiming for D'angelo, the cheapest options. Anyone else?

I got this stuff too. The paperwork is going to be a pain - I don't even know who to ask as my university (in the UK) is organized a bit differently from most US colleges. It's strange to call something a questionnaire when there's only one question!curiouser wrote:Hi Everyone-

Yes, I'm excited to be starting in fall - planning to move to the city at the beginning of August to get settled. I "finished" my current job a few weeks ago.

Sent in my housing application today. All of my preferences were for D'Ag.

That College Questionnaire, we're supposed to give it to whoever did our Dean's Certs for the other schools right?

After a long absence, I am back.
Thus, I must promptly inquire: What the heck is D'angelo?

What would Filomen D'Agostino think, seeing her name so mangled after all the money she put into that building?aguyingeorgia wrote:jpfrawg wrote:I'm kinda excited. Not too excited about having to do that paperwork, but I suppose that's just more practice.

The above two posters are both mistaken. Season 4 is the best.

It almost made me regret never considering TFA.mwazaumoja wrote:The above two posters are both mistaken. Season 4 is the best.

I just started Season 3, and it seems pretty exciting this far. When we get to NYC we can reenact our favorite scenes. I'll drop the stash off the fourth floor of the D'ag towers for the re ups.

Yes, take it to the Dean of Students office.
Just about 3 months until orientation starts!!

Surprised a lot of you applied for D'Ag. I was for Mercer all the way, unless I can snag a studio in D'Ag. I'm going to be paying out my ass for it though.

I went Mercer too! But I put down studios for both buildings as my #1 option. I guess I'm just anti-social ><magnumxlv wrote:Surprised a lot of you applied for D'Ag. I was for Mercer all the way, unless I can snag a studio in D'Ag. I'm going to be paying out my ass for it though.

Hah, yeah I applied only for Mercer because it was a better deal for me (I applied for family housing).magnumxlv wrote:Surprised a lot of you applied for D'Ag. I was for Mercer all the way, unless I can snag a studio in D'Ag. I'm going to be paying out my ass for it though.
I'm crossing my fingers pretty hard that I actually get it because I dread apartment hunting from the West Coast.

Any idea when we have to register for classes? Or when we find out what classes we should take?

it's in the packet that they sent out. you essentially don't need to register because they pick your classes and section for you. I'm too lazy to get it, but I think it's in august?spinsta wrote:Any idea when we have to register for classes? Or when we find out what classes we should take?

Re: NYU 2012
That felt like one of the toughest decisions I've made in...at least 2 years. I picked D'Ag though because of the location/price/dormy feel (I'm fresh out of college). Also, I wanna live in both buildings, and it seems more natural to start with D'Ag rather than Mercer.magnumxlv wrote:Surprised a lot of you applied for D'Ag. Re: NYU 2012
Merry Memorial Day all.
So, does it seem weird to anyone else that the whole loan process still hasn't begun? Aside from FAFSA and NYU Fin Aid applications, of course.
I can't help but re-check the Financial Aid application FAQs, and yeah it actually does say "The loan application process begins in mid-June. Our office will provide additional information on the loan application process to enrolling students in late-May or early-June." Guess I should expect a mailing in the next week or so......
