Just FYI: If you check Penn inTouch you can find your section and classes.

I'm in Section 1, Team 1-B. Cohort 4, if I'm understanding their classification system properly.
Does everyone have a Friday class? Or do I just have bad luck?

That makes me feel a little better. I never had a Friday class at my UG and I've gotten very used to it. So long as everyone has one, I guess I can't be too annoyed.riccardo426 wrote:Section 2 does.

I have 9-4:15 on Wednesday, but I only have four classes (I have a break from 11:45-1:30). Otherwise, I've three classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and one class on Friday.

I think I checked out all of the possible schedules for 1L's this coming year and it was set up the same way ours was, everyone has class at the same time, just different classes. Also, the legal writing class doesnt meet as often as it says on your schedule

I've heard scary and good/bad things about Burbanks and Katz. Anything interesting and/or good to know?

Had them both!absworkoutplan wrote:I've heard scary and good/bad things about Burbanks and Katz. Anything interesting and/or good to know?
Burbank: Wonderful professor but very stern and very difficult. He is a brilliant man (who knows he is brilliant). He loves Penn more than anyone at Penn which I think is awesome. You will definitely need to work hard and be prepared to be on call. As long as you can respond semi-intelligently you will be fine, but do NOT be completely unprepared and stare blankly. He will make you look like a tool. He does tend to stay on people for a while (the first person of the day will easily get 30 mins of questions).
Katz: I am assuming you have him for contracts, I had him for crim. People who had him for contracts (random should be able to weigh in on this one) loved him. He is a super nice guy but can sometimes not make much sense... I had his wife for contracts (Finklestein) and she was also really nice. They have adorable children too

Do you know anything about the section 2 professors (Wax, Finklestein, Klick, Ross)? Thanks in advance.

Re: Penn Class of 2012
Wax: She didn't teach civ pro last year but I know plenty about her. She definitely takes the "civ pro is hard and should be hard" attitude (which is good imo). She is harder on 1L's than on people who take her upper levels. She really is a very nice person no matter what you see in class, don't be too scared to go talk to herCCA wrote:Do you know anything about the section 2 professors (Wax, Finklestein, Klick, Ross)? Fink: See comments about Katz above. Also, she uses power point which is helpful to refer back to. She calls on a lot of people in each class so you aren't on call for 20 min with her, you only get a question or two.
Klick: I have heard good things but nothing more than anecdotal evidence. He is a law and econ guy so his torts should be interesting.
Ross: I know nothing.

Congrats! You need to wait for your PennKey setup code to view your classes. I was accepted on Friday and haven't received mine yet, so you'll probably have to wait a bit to receive yours.

Struve: Everyone loves her, IMO she is too nice to teach civ pro, but thats just because I am of the belief that 1L's need hardcore people for 1L. I haven't had many interactions with her, but she is a genuinely super nice person.caoyun wrote:I have Struve, Johnston, Allen, Wagner, Simon and Willig. Wagner: He does not love (or even like) teaching property, he is a patents man all the way. His exam apparently did not reflect the course from last semester.
Allen: Her speciality is privacy, I don't know what she will be like for torts...
Simon: I assume you mean Anne (Ann?) Simon for legal writing. You will have very little interaction with her, it is really the legal writing instructor (3L) you need to care about.
I don't know anything about anyone named Willig. Is that contracts? Or is that your 3L LWI?

Re: Penn Class of 2012
I had Austin for torts...hated it. She seems perfectly nice but one day she went on this rant about race and sexuality and minorities, it was just completely uncalled for and made everyone uncomfortable. It did end up being one of my more amusing 1L experiences though. On her exams you definitely need to sympathize with the poor/minority/woman (something I didn't really do).kurla88 wrote:More professors I have - Austin, Balganesh, Glickman.
Balganesh is visiting if I remember correctly, can't give much input there.
I don't know Glickman...

Not Anne Simon.. I don't have the first name, but its J. Simon. Willig is for LWI. Johnston is my contracts professor.Georgiana wrote:Struve: Everyone loves her, IMO she is too nice to teach civ pro, but thats just because I am of the belief that 1L's need hardcore people for 1L. Thanks for the input. My guess is there are good and bad professors. Each section probably has a couple of each. Hopefully none are too bad, though.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
