I know at least one person received their package already. Not sure if it was through the site, but I'd assume so.river85 wrote:Yeah my ID wasn't found either. The only reason I want access is to view my financial aid package, but someone mentioned that won't be up until April 1st. True, or does anyone know if it's up already?

I am wondering because I have yet to receive my id letter. The post office is really ticking me off, i received my admission packet 1 month later after 2 tries from berkeley. and at times I receive no mail at all; only to receive huge batches on some days.

You got your mail already? Where in NJ are you? (Jealous of how much easier your admissions cycle must have been without waiting until 5pm every day for the mailman!!)iamlife1001 wrote:actually I just got mine today; not that it works yet but at least the id is in my hand!!!

hehe no I am in NY and all my decisions came unexpectedly through the phone/e-mail so the timing of the mail was never a source of anxiety, except for receiving the admission packet, which never really cameIzziesGal wrote:You got your mail already? I'm so jealous!!! I re-routed my mail to my new temporary address (effective yesterday lol) until I move to Cali, and I am guessing that this is responsible for me not having the letter yet. Grrrrrrr!

But mail from Berkeley keeps reinforcing the fact that my acceptance wasn't a hallucination....

Mine too!
No financial aid yet, though that is expected. Will need to check back on April Fools Day and hope the Berk is utterly lacking in sense of humor.

Finally got my ID to work!!
So my financial aid award summary is up, and I have a law grant recorded for both fall and spring semesters for almost $13,000 per semester. Anyone else have this? Is it equivalent to a scholarship?
If it is, I guess I should contact the financial aid office to talk about making up the difference with loans, right? I hate money issues, it complicates everything.

Just talked to the admissions people. Whatever "Law Grant" that you see now is strictly need-based, so that does not preclude merit awards when the whole package becomes available on April 1.

Re: Berkeley Class of 2012
Same thing here. It's equal to a scholarship in that you don't need to pay it back, but it's need based, not merit based. It basically reduces your tuition by that amount each semester. I think scholarship awards are yet to be decided, but I doubt there will be too many.river85 wrote:Finally got my ID to work!!

By the way, for those of you who haven't looked yet, total cost of attending is $70,117.00 this year
(but my grant aid, at least, does make it a little more manageable).

Hooray for being from California... $58,000 doesn't sound quite as bad.dresq wrote:By the way, for those of you who haven't looked yet, total cost of attending is $70,117.00 this year

So does anyone fully understand their offer? Is the grant amount just for this year? Or will we get the same one for every year? And are we sure that this is need-based only?

I look at it as UCB being honest about the COL. Unlike, say, CLS or NYU.dresq wrote:By the way, for those of you who haven't looked yet, total cost of attending is $70,117.00 this year

Re: Berkeley Class of 2012
The $70k is for out of state. As for your independence, I can only say that I did not submit what you submitted and I am considered an independent as well. I don't think we can infer that all law schools think that.amyLAchemist wrote:I don't have anything on there yet (no offer), but I can log in. I am being counted as an independent student according to UCB (under track on the status tab). Is this because they agreed I was independent since I submitted the "Statement of Independence" or are all law students getting this?
And my budget amount is $57,872.00 in state - was the 70,117 out of state?

Annual grants, I believe (at least mine looks that way). They will most likely re-calculate each year to account for summer employment, any residency changes, etc.southernlady wrote:So does anyone fully understand their offer? Oh, not saying good or bad, just kind of a slap to the face. With my grant, it looks pretty manageable actually. In fact, I'm less concerned about finances now than I am about the renovations/facilities at the school and housing/QOL in the area. I'll find out about that this weekend, though.bgc wrote:I look at it as UCB being honest about the COL. Sorry I misread it. I thought I would def be considered a dependent, as I still am for my parents' tax purposes.amyLAchemist wrote:Sorry if I was unclear, I was referring to Berkeley only.prelaw wrote:The $70k is for out of state. And thanks, I was wondering if that meant anything or not. Perhaps not. They never replied to me about it, except that they received it.
