You can add me to the attending UVA list - my ED process went extremely quickly as well - my cycle was done by the beginning of October.

I submitted my application to UVA Sunday, went complete Wednesday, decided to do early decision post-submission and overnighted my contract Thursday, it arrived Friday at 10:30am, and I got an email from Dean Trujillo at 1:22pm asking me to call him...he called me back an hour later offering me a seat!

I must say, the people at UVA are wonderful. Very polite and willing to spend time answering questions. The call was a wonderful touch. Talk about instant gratification!

171 LSAT, 3.34 LSAC gpa with a good upward trend after being off school three years and transferring. I've attended more schools than Sarah Palin in the process of getting my undergraduate. Good work experience, interesting softs (at least I think so). Not a Virginia resident.

Yay! It is OVER. I'm so happy to be going to UVA in the fall! Good luck everyone!
This is awesome... Congrats!!!!!

Did you submit a paper or electronic application?

I'll be there in the fall as well. I'm excited to see more future classmates getting accepted!

I've done a little looking around on craigslist to get an idea of housing in the area. I'd actually prefer to live in a house so I can have a more rural setting. Does anyone know folks who've lived farther out to have breathing room, or is it that much easier to just go for the Woodlands or something similar?

People live all over - some people live in Ivy and Woodlands, which are suburbany, some people live by the more urban areas by the Downtown Mall, some people live in more rural areas (and there seem to be some spectacular places around here if you want to go that route). Whatever your choice is, it's fine, but if you choose to live farther out, you will most likely require a car, you won't have the opportunity to visit a section mate next door for 15 minutes or so when you need a break from studying, and it will be a much bigger pain in the ass if, for example, you leave your torts book in your locker and have to go back to get it. Other than that, it's your preference, but I think the advantages described above matter during your 1L year, when you are really pressed for time.

Also, note that Ivy, Woodlands, Arlington, etc. and the complexes whose names are tossed around are nothing like typical college undergrad housing. They are apartments inhabited primarily by graduate students, but there are also normal people here too. I have a young working couple with an infant next door to me. Importantly, you will not be woken up every night by a wild kegger, if that's what is concerning you.

Finally, just remember you have plenty of time to pick out housing. I got my apartment during the summer, as, I feel, did most of my classmates. I would wait to even consider housing until Admitted Students day, when you can scope out some places. Nothing can take the place of visiting.

I'm applying ED to UVA and have also started to glance at housing (wishful thinking) I hear the woodlands tossed around a lot but on their site --LinkRemoved-- it looks like its a condo but i do see a corporate rental option but i really don't get that. I was also wondering if UVA had a deal with them or law students can just rent a place like regular apartments. If any students could expand upon this that would be great.

Electronic, but the ED contract page needs to be mailed in, so I sent that overnight. I submitted my application electronically on Sunday, went complete Wednesday, sent my ED form Thursday and was accepted Friday.

It's just a regular apartment complex.

I applied ED on Wednesday of last week.

Even though my status checker says that UVA has received my ED letter, I still haven't gone complete.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in. Quick question for all:

How long after you submitted your application did you hear from UVA that they had received it and they gave you an AdmitWeb password to check your status? I sent my application through LSAC Oct. 13, and have heard nothing from them, although they did request my report.

From my own experience and what I can garner from the others who have been accepted, UVA received everything really quickly. I applied and within a week of submitting my application, I was accepted. I'm not sure on the timing of receiving the status check website via email, but I would guess 2-3 days. Keep in mind though, I believe all of those who have been accepted at this point have been ED. That probably has a lot to do with the speed of the process.

I received a confirmation email and password the same day. I would call.

There have been a few non-ED acceptances.

How pretentious would it be to buy a UVA Law t-shirt and start wearing it around my UG campus before I graduate? I know it's bad, but I can't help myself..they have such cute ones!! And coffee mugs!

Haha, I can't say I haven't done that already myself. And yes on the mugs too.

I'm just expecting a ton of UVA shirts, mugs, stickers etc. for Christmas... give my family an easy way out.

Btw, out of curiosity, what is everyone doing from now until classes start? Traveling, working, etc?

I already graduated, but I've got a UVA Law sticker on my car, one Virginia Law t shirt, and a few Virginia shirts. I went to W&M for undergrad so people get mad when I wear them because we are sort of rivals.

I'm living at home helping take care of a sick parent and saving some money and then I'm hoping to do some traveling in the spring.

Congrats to everyone who is already in! I have a question though...have any of you that have been accepted ED received any information about scholarships, etc.? I am curious to see if applying ED at UVA effects getting money or not...

For those worried about walking, keep in mind that as a 1L, you will not get a parking spot right next to the school. So whether you live on Arlington or drive and park in the lot, it's still going to be about a 5 minute walk, so for your first year, don't live far away just so you can drive.

In general, I would agree with Arlington, Ivy, or Woodlands though.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
