I guess it's not that important I was just curious as to how it worked.jdn012 wrote:I thought (with emphasis because I don't really remember correctly) - it was 2 classes with 30 (one of which is Legal Writing), 2 with 2 sections (60 people), and 1 with 3 sections (90). This thread gets me so excited about moving to VA and starting school that I just called Carriage Hill and asked them to find me something a month earlier than I had previously requested...

Re: UVA Class of 2012
That's basically right, but I believe most sections have 2 with 30, 1 with 60, and 2 with 90. To avoid confusion, that SIS list is not exhaustive so there won't be only be 3 professors teaching each subject; it'll probably be about 6.JSUVA2012 wrote:Nah, that actually sounds right. I think that's what they said at ASD.jdn012 wrote:I thought (with emphasis because I don't really remember correctly) - it was 2 classes with 30 (one of which is Legal Writing), 2 with 2 sections (60 people), and 1 with 3 sections (90). If you want a sample just to get a feeling for what a schedule might look like, my Fall schedule was:
Mon: Torts 8:30-9:50, LRW 10:00-11:00, CivPro 2:10-3:30, CrimLaw 3:40-5:00
Tues: Contracts 10:00-11:20, CivPro 2:10-3:30
Wed: Torts 8:30-9:50, Contracts 10:00-11:20, CrimLaw 3:40-5:00
Thurs: Torts 8:30-9:50, CivPro 2:10-3:30
Fri: Contracts 10:00-11:20
Torts was 60 people, LRW was 30, Contracts was 30, CivPro was 90, CrimLaw was 60

That's a great Friday schedule. Are all Friday schedules similar to that, or do some people get screwed and end up with 4 classes then (like your Monday schedule)?

I think Friday is lighter on average but some people get Friday afternoon classes unfortunately.Cavalier wrote:That's a great Friday schedule. Are all Friday schedules similar to that, or do some people get screwed and end up with 4 classes then (like your Monday schedule)?

From looking over the section schedules in the c/o 2011 thread, there are no Friday classes starting later than 10am.Cavalier wrote:That's a great Friday schedule. Are all Friday schedules similar to that, or do some people get screwed and end up with 4 classes then (like your Monday schedule)?

Phew! That would infuriate me, especially late afternoon classes. I made the mistake of taking a class that ended at 4:30 on Friday - that was torture. From looking over the section schedules in the c/o 2011 thread, there are no Friday classes starting later than 10am.

Let me correct myself. VERY FEW Friday classes starting after 10am. But some.Cavalier wrote:Phew! That would infuriate me, especially late afternoon classes. Contracts isn't as bad as you'd expect. You probably have a 25% chance of getting Kraus which is quite the experience.showNprove wrote:If I have to sit through contracts for 80 minutes a day at 8:30 in the morning...
Time to invest in an espresso machine. Triple shots FTW
Also, adding to the post about classes, you have all classes in the fall with your section. 60 person classes are with 1 other section, 90 person classes are with 2 other sections. Usually the other sections you have class with will be different for each class so it's not like there's a de facto larger section beyond your 30.

Looks like I'm going to need something to remind me which classes are on which days - that schedule would have confused me for a while. My UG went along the MWF/TTH split.

For anyone budgeting time like the OCD maniac that I am, we will have class approximately 15.5 to 16.0 hours per week.

That's not too bad, I'm going to have a really hard time with this kind of schedule though. I'm used to MW and TTh classes, so this is really weird to me. I will probably have to write it all down and keep it with me most of the semester.JSUVA2012 wrote:For anyone budgeting time like the OCD maniac that I am, we will have class approximately 15.5 to 16.0 hours per week.

geez I don't check TLS for one day and come back to find 10 new pages. I successfully spent almost 2 hours procrastinating.
sealocaust: friend me on fb ... you know my name
limegreen: your uncle wouldn't happen to be the provost of a college in central PA would he?
I ask only because I was talking to the provost of my school and his niece who went to w&m was considering UVA Law.

Nope, don't think that's me. And I'm not considering... I'm definitely attending!

Yeah, I would even forget where to go with the MWF TTh classes, so switching it up like this will definitely be interesting. I have a feeling I will be the girl who is constantly walking around confused : )limegreen wrote:That's not too bad, I'm going to have a really hard time with this kind of schedule though. I don't know if this has already been asked, but am I going to have to install Windows on my Mac to get UVA's exam software to work? What is their exam software, if any?

I wasn't at the session on academia, but what about the mock class (2nd ASD)? Would you call the ppl who were raising their hands gunners? I don't know, I thought it was somewhat gunnerish and offputting (compared to a real class I sat in on once).thesealocust wrote:Fixed. yeah, i remember that girl. But I also remember hands flying up left and right when she asked a question. There were at least 3 other people besides that first girl who talked.JSUVA2012 wrote:I don't even remember anyone talking...? edit: I guess the reason I felt it was gunnerish was because as soon as that first girl had to flip through the case to answer a question, the hands started flying up.

I want to know this too, but if I remember correctly from my tour, they don't have exam software - don't really need it with the honor code. If I'm right, you'll only need office for mac I think, but I could be completely wrong tho.limegreen wrote:I don't know if this has already been asked, but am I going to have to install Windows on my Mac to get UVA's exam software to work?
