Re: Northwestern 2012
I hadn't really seen any discussion anywhere on the site regarding how NU 2L's fared in pulling down summer associateship positions for this upcoming summer. Any current students have a rough idea how things went?

I think things were pretty good, by and large. A few people who probably would have had an offer in a better economy ended up scrambling, but they're a small minority.

Have you guys checked your NU email addresses recently? I got my final financial aid package yesterday. I'm trying to figure out which lender to go with right now.

Yeah I got mine too... I haven't decided yet either. I'm kind of leaning towards either Citi or Wells Fargo. What are you thinking?69sofine wrote:Have you guys checked your NU email addresses recently? I got my final financial aid package yesterday. I did a bit of research on the various lenders, it looks like Discover is .25% cheaper than the rest on the Grad PLUS loans, with an additional .25% discount for auto-debit. From a purely financial perspective, they seemed best.hmlee wrote:Yeah I got mine too... I haven't decided yet either. I'm kind of leaning towards either Citi or Wells Fargo. Yeah, it's in a pretty sorry state. I think most of the people were in the applicant or hold threads.on_ne_sait_jamais wrote:Is the NU tls contingent this small?? our thread is scant at best...

I just checked mine. The only mail I have is the standard welcome to Gmail email. Maybe they over enrolled and are just hoping that if they ignore me I will go away o.O!hmlee wrote:Yeah I got mine too... I haven't decided yet either. For Stafford and Grad PLUS why wouldn't someone use Discover?hmlee wrote: Yeah I got mine too... I haven't decided yet either. I'm kind of leaning towards either Citi or Wells Fargo. What are you thinking?
Discover has no origination fee for the Stafford (Citi is 1%) and a lower fixed rate for the Grad PLUS (8.25% v. 8.50% for Citi).
Is there something I'm missing?

I don't know... I suppose the health of the company / the fact that their approval rate is only 63% are of concern to me.stl1622dc wrote:For Stafford and Grad PLUS why wouldn't someone use Discover?hmlee wrote: Yeah I got mine too... where is everyone living? i've found a pretty awesome deal next to loyola chicago but it looks like that commute might be less than desirable (without a car... i'd like to avoid taking mine over). What is a good limit to set for distance and time of commute?

Re: Northwestern 2012
I live up in the northern part of Lakeview on Irving Park Rd.... Loyola Chicago is up in Rogers Park which is quite the hike, but I guess it depends on whether or not where you're living is near the red line. If you were near the red line you could take it right down to the area of Chicago & State, which is right next to the law school. If you haven't signed the lease yet and wanted to PM me the details I could tell you whether or not it's a good idea. I've been living in Chicago for my entire life now so I know the city pretty well at this point...foodizgood wrote:where is everyone living? i've found a pretty awesome deal next to loyola chicago but it looks like that commute might be less than desirable (without a car... i'd like to avoid taking mine over). Re: Northwestern 2012
i don't think we have a second deposit, which sort of makes sense given that $750 for our first deposit was unreal.reminiscent wrote:when is second deposit due? can't find the stupid info

Re: Northwestern 2012
Yeah, there is no second deposit.
Edit: Which actually makes it cheaper for us. Instead of 2 x $500, we get 1 x $750...

Did anyone else notice that we have to take a Myers-Briggs personality test on Thursday of orientation week? I giggled.

Signing on!
Just got in off WL, definitely attending barring the city of Chicago falling off into the lake.
Excited!
Also, anyone know how long until I get my financial aid package?

Also curious about the financial aid situation. I'm pretty ready to pay sticker, but man it's a lot of money; I hope for a little money to be thrown my way.
