So, are we part timers and full timers going to hang out? Assuming my last waitlist doesn't work out, I'll be in NYC beginning on August 17.

I thought someone was trying to get another bar night. I'm down for that.silenziatori wrote:So, are we part timers and full timers going to hang out? Assuming my last waitlist doesn't work out, I'll be in NYC beginning on August 17.

Sorry I was away. The building started shaking so a bunch of people evacuated for a while to bryant park (i work in the bank of america building). Everything was cleared and its safe to be back in the building.

That was in the email we got.The cause of the shaking was a very large water riser valve closing in the BOA plant within the lower part of the building. The effect is called "water hammer" meaning a very large, highly pressurized water pipe was suddenly shut off causing vibration throughout the building.

What do you mean? The landlord lowered your rent or you're getting a roommate? I can't even imagine trying to afford a place around here. I like going out too much.geoanthem wrote:Yeah, I live closeby too. And we got $900 off rent a month next year.

We could have, but I don't think any of us wanted to be tied down for two years.silenziatori wrote:Impressive nonetheless.geoanthem wrote:No, just one yearcasper00 wrote:That's unbelievable.. did you lock in your lease for two years?geoanthem wrote:we renegotiated our lease so it is 900 less a month this this past year

Here is the article, if people want to use it while negotiating:sentinal5656 wrote:sounds like geo has a great deal on housing.

Here is a quote regarding where I live:
Edit: we used this article to convince our landlord to lower the rent almost twice as much as they were offeringThe largest rent reductions took place in midtown East, where rents for two-bedroom units in doorman buildings plummeted 21.3% from the same month a year ago, and in Murray Hill, where non-doorman one-bedroom units fell 20.7%.

I miss you guys so much! When can we get together and drink again?
Geo: That is insane. Congrats on your serious bargain! That was a badass accomplishment.
Hoff: For the love of god, let me call Dean Brown. I think you will find that I am far more stubborn than you are. Remember YCRevolution and his brilliant prediction device? You are a strong consider, just as I was.
I was with Tx girl all day yesterday. We walked all over Lincoln Center, through the little passage that connects the Met to Fordham, then past Columbus Circle into the park. She's one of the sweetest people I have met, and she has an awful decision to make. I know she would be happy here with us, but I can't tell her to stay when she has $2,000 short of a full ride at UT, and her father wants her to return.
To everyone working: I am jealous. I thought I would enjoy my last free summer, but instead I feel vaguely guilty. I'm helping my roommate move out, and giving a hand to anyone that needs it, but I detest this idleness. If PIRC can't find me something to do during the school year, I really don't know what I'll do. I miss you guys... Let's do something soon!
