Hi Guys!

I just received my KB2 call on Monday (woohoo!) so am new to this thread. I have started reading through it all but its pretty long so forgive me if this has already been discussed. I wanted to know how long it took people in general after receiving their KB2 call to when they got their materials through the mail?

Thanks

So back to housing - where is everyone leaning?

If I can get one of the within-2-minute-walk apartments, I may do that. Otherwise, I'm hoping for Hastings or one of the big Gropius rooms.

I'd like to live somewhere really close to Harvard/Porter/Inman squares.

Somewhere along Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter. I'm really sad because the nearest Whole Foods is at Fresh Pond and the nearest Trader Joes is at the river. Neither of those are convenient to walk with groceries in hand. Lame.

I really want a 3 bedroom in 27 Everett. If anyone gets an early select window and 27 Everett fills up and you need a roommate (well, two, since I'm applying with a friend), keep me in mind!

hey guys, can someone quickly remind me what the general deal with housing is at harvard?

dorms are really crummy but cheap? and affiliated housing is nice but probably more expensive than doing craigslist?

i dunno pumpkin,
I'd say a lot of the affiliated housing can be more expensive but there are also cheaper ones. It's quite comparable. I believe (don't quote me on this) that there is no need for a 3-month's rent down payment with the affiliated housing and utilities are included. Pretty good deal, no?

Withdrawing from harvard law may be the most difficult thing I have ever done. And I only had a week to savor the flavor.

To all of you who are attending: have an amazing time!!! DO GOOD with your degrees!

It's great to hear Columbia is funding slayers these days - not an easy line of work, and much less lucrative than BigLaw (sorry, couldn't help it). Congrats!

I've lived in both Inman and Porter Square... probably going to to be my location choice as well in law school. I don't think I can do dorms again, even though it would be much easier to find a dorm than apartment from overseas... too many fresh-out-of-college types there :) (Nothing personal to all the college kids!!)

Four weeks from the time they processed it (you get an email about that). I'm in process with two HLS reimbursements, so I'm waiting on some serious $$$.

Probably because, like me, he knows Michigan is going to be amazing this weekend. We just got a series of incredibly gracious and funny emails from Dean Z -- and though I love stuffy-ass HLS, I'm sorely tempted by the amazing attitude at Michigan.

I know -- I'm with you. Besides being married, I'm a little more boring in everyday life than the average fresh-out-of-college type.

It's funny - at Michigan people kept bitching about fresh-out-of-college "kids" and how they were worried they'd be out of place and didn't think they'd interact well with them.

Yet a few of them ended up hanging out with me most of the weekend.

We're not all bad.

I actually visited Michigan already. I liked HLS more. I actually found more stuffy-ass people at UMich than HLS, which surprised me (it was probably just luck of the draw, but first impressions and all...)

It's more about the idea of turning down a sizable amount of money. I need someone to tell me it's OK to do, haha.

That's interesting. I don't think I've heard anyone say they liked the people at HLS more than Michigan. I visited CLS last week, and found the same thing, although I think CLS probably has a reputation for too many "stuffy-ass people." The CLS admitted student program convinced me that Harvard is the right choice. Now I've just got to try to accept the debt and send in my deposit. Harvard class of 2012- it's official!

That must feel SOO good pink. I'm ready to put this whole process behind me. I mean, for a lot of us, it's almost been half a year!

That's kind of depressing to think about. I should have written a novel with all the time I've spent worrying about this! ;)
