That's true. I'm quite anxious to hear myself. I'm in VA so hopefully it won't take too long to get here.

I thought UVa was sending out award notices via email. Does anyone know for sure?

I've heard that they use snail mail, but maybe this year it will be different. They already do all their decisions through e-mail, as it is a lot more efficient. Does anyone at the ASD remember?

Looks like scholarship decisions are coming through the mail. Sucks living on the west coast...

what will you all do if you do not obtain merit aid from UVA? Will you reconsider going to the schoool or no?

I am just wondering?

Well, I guess they were mailed yesterday then. The hard copy of my acceptance was mailed on a Monday (at least, that's when it is dated), and I received it on a Wednesday on the west coast, so hopefully we'll get our scholarship notifications tomorrow. Although, I'll be on a plane tomorrow, so my parents will have to tell me what it is.

Personally, I will need some merit aid in order to attend. I'm hoping for the best. Good luck all!

If I get merit aid, then I will more than likely be at UVA in the fall. No merit aid and Texas is starting to look really good (would not have to take out any loans there).

Also, the person on LSN who received the scholarship only got $10,000 per year. I don't recall UVA offering anyone that small of an amount last year (again, according to LSN). It seemed like the lowest scholarships amounted to a total of around $40,000 for three years. This means that UVA might be cutting back a little, which is certainly not surprising, but is still disappointing. Let's just hope that they don't start giving out amounts of $5,000 per year like Georgetown.

I'm not being greedy, I just am simply hoping for an amount that makes it possible to attend UVA.

A UVA offer would really make my life complete at this moment.

Also important to note that the person on LSN who received their offer already is from VA, so the rest of us might be waiting a while.

my understanding from past years was that in all but a few special cases UVA gave half, full, or none. perhaps this interpretation was wrong, or perhaps that trend is breaking this year.

Yeah but my LSAC-mangled GPA was a 3.34 :(

Not that it mattered. The only schools I would have considered over UVA were H, Y, and S and they definitely weren't happening.

At ASD though, i remember the finaid lady saying that around 50-60% of an entering class gets scholarships. On their website it says "Scholarships: 204 students received $3.34 million"

since their class is only ~360, I highly doubt the 204 students all got half or full scholarships. That would be some killer financial resources.

It doesn't appear to be that way on LSN from last years cycle. There's a lot of less than half/full scholarships listed.

I wonder if UVA will allow you to negotiate with other offers.

Has anyone thought to check their SIS accounts and see if their financial aid information has been posted there?

Just a thought. I don't have my log information with me at the moment or I would test my idea for myself.

Well, I was snooping around on the financial aid website (the one with the separate password and ID where the financial aid application is) and I could not find anything about current awards, so I guess they are not posted online. I was hoping I could view my tuition bill, or something, and then see that X amount of dollars was subtracted, but I couldn't find anything of that sort.

Yes, I'm impatient. lol.

Edit: This post gives us a 1 page lead on Harvard's 2012 class thread!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
