Fischer is about 1 mile away from the law school though. And they don't salt on campus. Or clear snow most of the time. They treat Fischer like a bitch. Enjoy your one mile blizzard walk.

Make sure you buy boots.

It's not THAT bad. They salt in a half-assed way, and sort of clear snow every once in a while. Sometimes the sidewalks are okay, sometimes they're all kinds of hazardous. They do at least keep the parking lots clear enough if you're driving to campus, although you have to practically climb over the piled up snow to get out of them. Also, it may be snow covered and even snowing, but it usually isn't a blizzard. Usually.

But definitely buy good quality boots (I'm going to have to buy a new pair already after one season because the zipper broke on mine and I can't sew it back on any more). That is a must.

I heard it's about 12 minutes, but it probably depends on your stride and how fast you walk.

Shorter than that. It's ~ 12 minutes from Fischer (one corner of campus - law school is in the middle of campus - stadium is in between), if you walk as fast as you can. I learned this last semester.

We don't walk in Florida, I'll be getting a golf cart with chains on the tires for my daily commute from Fischer. Possibly with nine rear view mirrors as well.

There is a 2L that rides his Vespa to the law school on the sidewalk, and then locks it in the bike rack...it's so cool and lame at the same time.

Ha, well everyone at UF has a scooter, including your's truly, but I'd imagine they aren't cool outside the state of Florida.

clover ridge

clover village (formerly turtle creek)

Both of those are about a mile away, so just a quarter mile or so farther out than fischer.

and there's a luxury apartment building going up next to them, but i'm not sure what the name is.

Current students... anyone know how strictly the following rule from the Fischer Handbook is enforced?? Curious b/c I will be in a long distance relationship and while the SO is not planning on visiting that frequently, it'd be nice to not have to worry about the 10 nights total rule.

Quote:
GUESTS
Overnight guests are permitted but must comply with the following rules. Overnight guests may stay in a resident’s apartment a maximum of four consecutive nights. Overnight guests may stay a total of ten nights during the academic year. Overnight guests must register with the FOG rector by completing a Guest Form. Guest Forms can be picked up in the Community Center office and returned to the office when filled out. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests. Consult the Parking section for information about parking for guest vehicles.

Bump (limits on sleep over parties could be a deal breaker).

Couldn't you just live off campus and not worry about it?

Check Craigslist South Bend. There were a couple of listing for three bedroom houses very close to campus. Nice houses, too, from the pictures.

By the way, anyone looking to live off campus need a roommate?

Esquire, other future classmates,
I am looking for a room mate interested in off campus housing; ideally a house (not an apt), please personal message me if you want to discuss.

My girlfriend stayed at my apartment 2-3 days a week the entire year.

Literally, there have been 50+ people parties throughout the night, and I've not heard of a single person getting in trouble ever. I have never heard of any rules being enforced ever, and for some (the don't leave your trash outside your door rule...ugh) I really wish they would.

Do you think I would be able to get away with switching out the little twin bed with a full or queen bed?
I wanted to live off campus mainly because I cannot deal with sleeping in a twin. I have a significant other also, who will be visiting me.

I could, but I like how I could walk to the gym from Fischer. That, and it's pretty much a stone's throw away from the library.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
