Re: Acceptances!!!
Got my first two acceptances in the mail today: W&M and UOP/McGeorge.
Hopefully, to answer the questions that come up with every "I'm in" post:
166/3.46. Both came snailmail and with offers of $.
W&M complete 1 Dec. Like others have posted elsewhere, it came in a priority mail letter size pkg, thin, w/letter, scholy, and ASD info only.
UOP complete 5 Nov. Came in a big pkg in a UOP envelope. It was fun to be the first to post on LSN (apart from one remnant data point from 2007)!
Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear.

Edit: Apparently I came off as being arrogant, insincere and just a plain awful person. I'm sorry.

I hate to do this but I absolutely must:laurathenerd wrote:I've been admitted to UVA, Duke, and W&M so far! Hopefully more will be coming, but even choosing between those three will be really hard, because they're all amazing. I never thought I would be getting into schools this good. Only 12 more schools to hear back from now, but I'm likely WL/reject at several of them so it's less exciting![]()
And super congrats to everyone so far, and good luck to everyone in the the future!
laurathenerd, what the hell are you talking about? Assuming that you have the same moniker in LSN, and assuming that you didn't fudge your numbers there [169. 3.91], you had solid stats for Duke and UVA. Also, out of the 12 left, 8 of them are sure hits (yes, including GULC). The only schools you probably need to look out for would be HLS, CLS, UofC and (perhaps to a lesser extent) NYU. Come on. Give us all with lesser numbers a break, will you?
Also, W&M is NOT in the same league with Duke and UVA.
Just enjoy your T14 acceptances. Have a good time.

Edit: OK. That is it. I just read your LSN stuff and you got a TS1 email on 12/6!!! What??? Why all this "oh-I-am-so-surprised-I-got-into-W&M" bit? Come on. Really. Relax.

OK. I did come off harsh. Live and let live, I guess. Perhaps creepy, too. But I just couldn't understand how the poster is finding it "really hard" to choose among UVA, Duke and W&M. My bad. Perhaps it is indeed a tough call for some people.
...then again, laurathenerd got a TS1 call on 12/9. I am pretty sure a TS2 is on its way. Perhaps it will be easier to choose a school then
Best wishes to her.

Ooops, ouch, I hope I didn't come off as one of those people everyone hates. Oh wait. I already did. I'm really sorry.
I'm really concerned about the money thing. I'm really afraid of debt and I'm not sure what I want to do with my law degree, so I don't want to make a financial commitment I can't keep. So in my defense, it will be a hard decision. I only applied to one school for undergrad, so I've never had choices like this before, and I'm not really sure how to go about doing it. It's so hard for me to even choose which movie goes next in my netflix queue, let alone what law school to attend!
I'm applying to schools that were WAY above my league when I applied to undergrad (so I didn't apply there at all, because I fear rejection). W&M wouldn't have given me the time of day, and UVA would have laughed in my face. So now that it's law school time, it's really exciting to be in this situation. I'm really not very confident about this whole law school application process, and sometimes I think I overcompensate.
But, that's no excuse for sounding arrogant or anything like that. I'm trying to think of various ways to say sorry that sound sincere, but really, there aren't any.
For all those who were offended, maybe you can keep me in line and prevent me from saying anything that sounds too obnoxious in the future

I was surprised by W&M - mainly because I thought I wasn't going to hear from them for a long time. And um, the TS1 email totally shocked me. I thought I was auto reject for sure, so I didn't really know how to react. And believe it or not, I see the 20% or so of people with TS1s that don't get TS2s, not the 80% who get in - I'm just a negative person like that.TopCat wrote:

I really didn't mean to come off sounding rude or anything like that. I guess on the internet it's easy to just assume someone is the worst that they can be.
And to all you stalkers out there - if I'm really important enough to you to spend that amount of time figuring out everything, then gosh, I just feel so honored that I was able to make you that angry.

I'll try keep myself from commenting on TLS from now on if at all possible. I thought this was fun - sharing in other people's successes, and getting excited for law school. But maybe this isn't more than a forum to find faults in others.
Again, I'm really sorry if I sounded rude. I didn't mean to "lack sincerity" or anything like that, because you know what, I'm stoked about getting into three great schools and I felt I could say that. But maybe I can't. When I get rejected from the next group maybe I'll be allowed to share my feelings again. This is actually really upsetting to me, probably more upsetting to me than it was to you.

Re: Acceptances!!!
it's all good - relax - but hear me out on this: it pains me to hear people worrying about the debt they'll incur at harvard - consider these: 1) one of the best lrap's out there, 2) financial aid administered entirely on the basis of need and out of the school's endowment, 3) incomparable opportunities - it pains me, because i will jump at the chance if i get it - i can't imagine anyone else not doing the same - if you get in, and don't go, you'll be passing up something that is, i think, beyond any of our current capability to fully understand - if the opportunity presents itself, jump on it, and make something of it, whatever the sacrificelaurathenerd wrote:TopCat wrote:OK. Thanks for the advice - I certainly need as much of it as I can get!
And sorry for my freak out last night - it was late and I probably took things a little too personally.
I'm think I'm setting a record for the number of times someone can say sorry in one thread

and don't forget TLS has an abundance of frustrated haters (not having such a great cycle). When you already have such great news and prospects so early in the cycle, other people will resent you for it and accuse you of gloating.laurathenerd wrote:doyleoil wrote:

You should continue to post on TLS about your concerns b/c there are other people in the same situation as you. I've had some pretty cool acceptances so far but just like you, debt is a huge concern for me as well.
