OP, the correct life order was:
Grow up ---> law school
You need to get this first part down or it's not really going to matter what you choose.

Didn't read this before I posted. This post makes mine superfluous.Verity wrote:OP needs to grow the F up, because regardless of whether or not he becomes a lawyer, he won't succeed at anything with that kind of attitude and work ethic.

Hey OP:
If you really are considering working in Japan, PM me if you have any questions. I'm currently teaching English in Japan and I might be able to address any of your concerns about the jobs that are here, and what the experience is like.

OP has zero scholarship at a school that's not very good. This isn't just "some debt" this is probably 50k-60k a year. There's no benefit to finishing and digging yourself into 100k MORE debt if you don't want to be a lawyer. And if the end point is to get the degree and then "find a job doing something else" she can do this NOW, without finishing the degree and without destroying hopes of financial freedom.Fisher33 wrote: I know the legal market is bad and you will have some debt, but you never know how you might use that degree later in life. If you hate legal work, find a job doing something else after you graduate for a while.

whoa. i kinda forgot to check this site for a while, thanks for all the feedback. i truly appreciate it.
yes i made a big mistake in coming to law school. yes i should've grown up first.
but i'm here, still in, and i'm going to push on. i'm making a compromise with myself because going to school full time is misery for me but i'm afraid of my family's disappointment (and my own) if i quit now. i don't know if i could handle it. so i've dropped a couple classes, am going part time, and am taking it nice n slow. maybe i'll get a part time job. for now i'm hanging out more with non-law-school friends, doing volunteer work, envying people chasing concrete dreams, daydreaming, drinking, picking up my guitar again, keeping the house cleaner, meeting new people and working on overcoming shyness, and wondering what i'm supposed to do with my life. i'm probably the kind of type-B INFP successful people (like TLSers) look down on...
but am i supposed to feel guilty for wanting to take it easy and enjoy my single and independent (except for my debt to the government) life for the first time in my life? maybe what i'm doing is wrong, but i don't want to get quarter-life crisis next year and end up driving my car off a bridge or shaving my hair off; i want to stay sane and happy.

You will have an even harder time getting a job after law school by going to law school part time and not working. You need to get a real job.
