I am kind of annoyed that it is taking so long. I don't know if any of you feel this way, but Berkeley has actually lost ground in my decision since I don't have an offer to consider.

And just got the email reminding me of the April 15 admissions form deadline. There is now way I'm responding without an offer.

i called during business hours, but got the voicemail. left a voicemail but never heard back. also have sent a few e-mails that haven't been followed up on. it's making me sad, because so far i've been really impressed with the berkeley admins.

Pretty sure you can tentatively commit until the 30th.

I don't think you have to make a final decision until June 1.

This is long overdue (I was waiting to say it until I gave an ASW recap, but that may never happen), but I wanted to say I really enjoyed meeting all the current and prospective TLSers at Berkeley's admitted students day event.

If anyone is still up in the air about Berkeley, know you'll be in great company next year :)

The minute I got that, I sent them an email saying I am considering Berkeley and two other schools and want to hold onto my seat for now, but I am not ready to commit without hearing the verdict on my matching scholarship request. I hope they'll accept that for now. All I've heard back so far is an autoresponse.

Really, though, I think it is bad form to send out important financial aid info so close to their own deadline.

That sounds like a good solution.

I agree it is in bad form.

You can tentatively confirm at no cost for now.

Well, not a matching scholly applicant here but I did send in the scholly form, complete with superb essays that were guaranteed to make the adcomms laugh and cry at the same time 8) . So my question: has anyone heard about any scholly offer apart from the matching ones? I think there was one person who was told that his/her initial scholly offer was greater than the matching offer and was therefore denied the matching offer [a number of pages back in this thread]. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, anyone else who, like me, did not submit the matching form but just the regular scholly form? I did call the finaid office and they said that as far as regular schollies go, if you don't hear anything, you can assume you didn't get any. Bummer.

Any amount of scholarship money would be welcome at this point. Not being greedy.

You think it's bad for them to remind you of a deadline? Huh? All the deadline stuff was in the acceptance packet.

I hear you on that, I just put down my interest as tentative depending on the result of the matching scholarship. Also, if another scholarship deadline is approaching, you might be able to get an extension. My NYU award required that I respond by tomorrow evening, but I told them the situation today and they gave me an extension. Hope this helps!

Not sure, but you and the other tlsers (and those wonderful crepes we had) are definitely doing a great job at persuading me

Speaking of scholarships, did anyone apply for the Phoenix Fellowship? It is the Berkeley scholarship for people who wish to pursue public interest. They are supposed to interview people on April 19.

I wanted the money, but couldn't convince an infant that I care about PI.
