Re: UVA Class of 2012
I saw some stuff about graded midterms while reading professor reviews. Do all professors do this or is it only in our small section class or what?

I believe the way it's set up at least one professor in every section will conduct a midterm which they will grade in order to demonstrate the law school exam process. I can't remember if this midterm is supposed to not count or count for a small part of your grade, but either way it's mainly preparation so you know what to expect for the final.limegreen wrote:I saw some stuff about graded midterms while reading professor reviews. For contracts with Hynes, his syllabus lists that the midterm is graded but doesn't count towards the final grade.vanwinkle wrote:I believe the way it's set up at least one professor in every section will conduct a midterm which they will grade in order to demonstrate the law school exam process. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Possibly not. I think it was said on here that Dean Mahoney's classes are listed everyday to give him flexibility for his schedule. Maybe we'll get a more solid schedule for Contracts on the first day that won't include Fridays... (Here's hopin'!)Kohinoor wrote:Section J:

Ew. Two Friday morning classes.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Most sections will have 1 or 2 midterms. I believe all small section professors give them but I'm not sure. Some of them count, some don't. I know Johnson and Armacost gave ones that counted last year (sucks for Section I)...but could change based on how many students they have.
Limegreen, Mitchell and Harmon didn't ban laptops last year. I don't think Geis or Armacost did either but not sure. As far as I know, all LRW classes have laptop bans.

That's what I heard as well. Moran also has great reviews on lawweb. The only professor/class I'm worried about is Contracts because last fall students wrote that they barely got through half of their syllabus!jase1348 wrote:I'm in section A also. Re: UVA Class of 2012
I'm not a huge fan of the section D schedule. It seems really strange that on Tuesdays and Fridays we have nothing except for one 8:30 class. Maybe I got my schedule wrong:
Monday:
Criminal 10-11:20
LRW 1-2
Torts 2:10-3:30
Civil Procedure 3:40-5
Tuesday:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
Wednesday:
Criminal 10-11:20
Torts 2:10-3:30
Civil Procedure 3:40-5
Thursday:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
Torts 2:10-3:30
Civil Procedure 3:40-5
Friday:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
Monday:
Criminal 10-11:20
LRW 1-2
Torts 2:10-3:30
Civil Procedure 3:40-5
Tuesday:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
Wednesday:
Criminal 10-11:20
Torts 2:10-3:30
Civil Procedure 3:40-5
Thursday:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
Torts 2:10-3:30

Does anyone know if reading assignments will be posted tomorrow, and if they're going to be posted online or just in the glass case by SRO? If it's the latter, if someone who lives close to the law school would be willing to find out my assignments for me, I'll buy you a drink and/or be your best friend, whatever works for you.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
I'm in E! I went to the bookstore with a bunch of people after hiking and did not see any used books. Then again, my books were grabbed for me by a very nice man so I didn't have to battle what might have become a crowd without his help.
I'm getting so excited. I'm about to organize my books lol jk. If you were planning on waiting to get books until orientation, I suggest going now because they are heavy and if you can park in the metered spots behind the law school and not lug them around orientation your biceps will thank you. Unless the bookstore schedule changes, orientation on Monday lasts longer than they are open so lugging may be necessary.

Section H has the ultimate can't-go-to-bar-review schedule. I like what I've read about the professors on LawWeb, though.

I wish my section had more of the "all-stars" identified by Gladiator, but from reading evals it looks like only one of my professors might not be very good.
