Re: UVA Class of 2012
ok, does anyone else find the UVa financial aid forms more difficult than the lsat? I don't know what to put when it asks me what i expect to be school wise in 2009-2010, it gives me the option of 1st through 7th yearh, then for med school, and cont1-4 or something...
I mean, would you put 1st year as in 1L? Or 5th year as in 4 years undergrad plus 1 year law?
I could use some advice, I don't wanna put something stupid down. Thanks.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
yeah i think there were ~30 appellate clerks for 2009, right? seemed like ~top 10% would be a good bet for appellate, top 20% for district - that sound right to you yc?YCrevolution wrote:Yes. It made me feel reassured that you didn't have to be top 5% to get a federal appellate clerkship (and even less so for federal district).doyleoil wrote:did you guys get that clerkship e-mail? 4 scotus clerks in 2009? very impressive

Re: UVA Class of 2012
So my mom is being pretty unhelpful with my institutional form, it says finish it by march 1st, i've been asking her to help me forever but she says tonight/tomorrow she'll give me her numbers for the parent financial info. What happens if I finish it on march 1st...You think that's sufficient to get into that initial pool of inst fin-aid apps?
my dad says he'll try to help me now, but i doubt he knows about their financial stuff, he's the one who works but my mom handles the finances... man, she's been so unhelpful through this whole process...

Re: UVA Class of 2012
are you sure? that would be a relief...just getting her to do this caused a huge fight...for some reason, she doesn't feel obligated to help me w/this at all, she thinks the parental info is unimportant...like comon, i'm a good guy, give me a hand with numbers i could only arbitrarily guess at...(and i'm not putting down anything innacurate so that wasn't meant to indicate a real course of action)YCrevolution wrote:Sorry, and yes.1337Law wrote:So my mom is being pretty unhelpful with my institutional form, it says finish it by march 1st, i've been asking her to help me forever but she says tonight/tomorrow she'll give me her numbers for the parent financial info. Hey man,
Don't worry I know how you feel, I was just able to get my parents info but only after fighting with them for two months. Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with that.

Ycrev, how do you know so much lol.YCrevolution wrote:UVA might pull your app for verification, but close estimates should work fine (esp. since the value of many securities changes on a daily basis).1337Law wrote:so what happens if she just guestimates everything, i'm hoping she doesn't do that, but would ballpark estimates be ok?

My 'tar is from the the Natick Soldier Systems Center from the US Army (http://www.natick.army.mil/). Apparently, it's how American troops are supposed to be equipped in the future.

For UVA financial aid, I've actually had quite a bit of correspondence with the finaid office. Long story short: be careful when you fill out the online form because when they say they can't change it, they mean it (you can mail amendments in, though).

I am at my parents mercy as well. My dad just got hold of all his financial numbers and I will have all of my financial aid forms finished tomorrow. I hope I don't get punished for having everything completed the day it is due.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Sorry if this question has already been posted and I missed it, but did anyone get a confirmation after submitting their financial aid info to UVA? I completed mine a few weeks ago now but haven't heard any kind of confirmation and that kind of worries me. Someone please put my paranoid mind at ease!

Unless you noticed a problem, it's most likely fine.

So, I got all my info ready to submit for the institution financial aid form, but.. the section titled 2008 Untaxed Income and Benefits under parents income and benefits doesn't allow for enough digits ... it's like your forced to put the wrong number, anyone know what to do ?

Re: UVA Class of 2012
well crap, turns out its 6 digits.. I'll just submit the first 5 and follow up with an email tomorrow? Is that a decent plan?YCrevolution wrote:I wrote out the latter portion of my finaid form, but I would think it'd allow for at least 5 digits of untaxed income/benefits. If it's not letting you do that, I'd enter the maximum number allowed (9999 if four-digit max). If it's not allowing more than 5 digits, than I'd put 99,999 (and, if that's the case, I think I can also safely say that you're probably not going to get too much in institutional grants).1337Law wrote:So, I got all my info ready to submit for the institution financial aid form, but.. the section titled 2008 Untaxed Income and Benefits under parents income and benefits doesn't allow for enough digits ... it's like your forced to put the wrong number, anyone know what to do ?
edit: or do you suggest the 99999 plan with an email?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
