Re: UVA Class of 2012
Ugh. I just got totally screwed by a furniture store (Berkmar Drive Discount Furniture)... Bought a couch (non-refundable), got told the owner's son would help me move it here. Called the son up, he goes, "Well, the earliest I could move it is Thursday or Friday..." I go, "When Thursday?" And he goes, "Well, really I can't do anything until Friday at the earliest." Runaround ensues, and I have a non-refundable couch I can't get home.
Anyone have a truck and/or is willing to help me move a couch if I can get a truck?

Make sure you have your student ID before going to Monticello. They have a student discount to buy one pass at full price, and a student can go free ($20.00 value).

While I will not volunteer to man the grill (I've only ever grilled with gas and I'm assuming it'd be charcoal), I will gladly arrive bearing ready-to-eat food and beverages.limegreen wrote:Iceberger- 430 Wednesday works for me! Anyone here want to volunteer to cook, haha?

For anyone who has already gotten an ID: what do I need to bring with me/what passwords do I need to get one?

You just need a driver's license or passport. You set up the computer password stuff later. It was really quick when I went, hardly anyone there this morning.

Thanks. I'll probably drop by later today to get my shiny new ID and opportunity to make up for my awful undergrad picture.iceberger wrote:napolnic wrote:For anyone who has already gotten an ID: what do I need to bring with me/what passwords do I need to get one?

does anyone want a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 or Bioshock for PS3? Theyve just been sitting on shelf and they're really fun.

vanwinkle, I've got a truck and don't mind helping you move your couch. When's a good time?

YC I can give you a ride there and back, I'm right across the street. I can bring some snacks and/or beverages.YCrevolution wrote:If I can get a ride there (and back), I'll bring some food and help out with the cooking.Jim_Stansel wrote:I'll flip some burgers.crazyinalabama wrote:While I will not volunteer to man the grill (I've only ever grilled with gas and I'm assuming it'd be charcoal), I will gladly arrive bearing ready-to-eat food and beverages.limegreen wrote:Iceberger- 430 Wednesday works for me! Since I was harassed away from the adjacent table by that woman at Buffalo Wild Wings the other night, I'm still looking forward to meeting most of you

I appreciate your offer! However, I went ahead and hired a mover to do it. $50, but that way I don't have to lug the couch down a flight of stairs either.rodandgun wrote:vanwinkle, I've got a truck and don't mind helping you move your couch. When's a good time?

ooo, there is this really good soup place off the mall, but I can't think of it's name right now. Maybe someone could help me out?kritiosboy wrote:What's a good place to get lunch around here? I'm thinking lunch special where you get a soup, entree and desert for like $9 or so.

Thai 99 has just that! Soup, spring roll, entree, and ice cream for right around 8 or 9 bucks. I don't recommend the ginger chicken (it was pretty much chicken and green bell peppers in a light, slightly spicy, sauce - dull), but my SO's pad thai was pretty good.kritiosboy wrote:What's a good place to get lunch around here? Marco and Lucas has dumplings for $3, yummy hot and sour soup for $1.50 and then you could walk down to Splendora's afterwards for yummy gelato ($3ish).
Have I frightened you with my food knowledge yet?
Don't know about soup off the mall, but Revolutionary Soup on the Corner is supposed to be delicious, although I've yet to try it.

Okay. I've got my couch taken care of, but Best Buy isn't delivering my awesome new TV until Thursday, and they won't tell me when on Thursday, so Thursday night is bad for me. So: I'm going to announce Rock Band Party Night will be Friday night for those interested. I'll provide sodas, and I'll take a $5/person pot for those who want pizza. I'll just pick 7PM as the time for the pizza order, but I'll be around earlier if people want to show up early. BYOB.
PM me if you're coming (and if you want in on the pizza pot) and I'll PM back the address. I live off Arlington Blvd not far from the law school.
