If you don't mind me/us asking, what is the bad news? Whatever it is might be helpful to others if they run into troubles.

Things look like they're going through on my end - (I?)SIS says that UVA certified my loan amounts, scheduled disbursement is 8/14 (hey, the day my lease starts, not bad).

+1. Even if it isn't helpful to people this year, it might be helpful for the Class of 2013 (ideally SIS will work better by the time C/O 2013 is enrolled, but...)

Also, if you spend $150 total or more (post-tax) at any 2+ Barracks Road Shopping Center stores/restaurants (including Harris Teeter and Kroger) between Aug. 01 and Aug. 23, you can get a $15 Barracks Road gift card (which you can use everywhere at Barracks except the post office and the Staples barbershop). Your receipts (as many as you like in any amount) just need to be from two or more stores/restaurants and add up to $150+ (including tax).

Now provided, you have to like groceries a lot (or be buying a suit or lots of cleaning supplies when you move in, etc.), but it's worth saving your receipts (if you don't already) just in case you reach $150.

And tax-free weekend in VA runs through Sunday.

YC, where do we bring those receipts? I'm pretty sure I have that amount already.

Beh, I'm still in hermit mode. Maybe tomorrow... I swear I'll stop being lame. (and you do know that the corner isn't one bar, right? It's an area with many bars. Which is a miracle compared to what I'm used to from undergrad)

Hah well I just got back with my roommate and friend from home. I know the corner is the name of the area, but I didn't know any names of specific bars. We went to a couple. Sports bar Boylan Heights that actually had really good food, then a place with a big statue of Buddha on the bar. Green we parked free in front of some furniture place on the opposite side of the street a little way down from the bars. I'm in if anyone wants to get together tomorrow

My friend was literally saying it was the best burger he ever had. But I sprang for the chicken sandwich with avocado, black bean spread, muenster cheese, and whatever else was on it on an english muffin. That I can recommend.
