I've got all my immunization records and am visiting my doctor tomorrow to get him to sign of on all the necessary things. It looks like I don't need to have been immunized for Hepatitis B and Meningococcal Meningitis, correct? There's a box that says "not an undergraduate" in the sections for those two diseases, so I assume that checking that box is an alternative to getting those immunizations, since I won't be an undergrad at UVA.
i sure hope so

I just got the LSAC e-mail, so I guess some came out later than others, kind of like LSAT scores. Maybe they want to keep us in suspense, wondering if we'll be reclassified as a different race.
Anyway, I checked the directions on the health form and I think that Hep B and Meningitis immunization is only for undergrads. So, I guess I'm OK then.

It is currently 64 and raining, evidently el niño is back and the south is going to continue being abnormally cold through winter.JSUVA2012 wrote:Temperature reading when I am packing: 117 degrees yesterday, 112 today, with gusts of hot wind

Damn it. I never looked at the sections of the forms that were to be filled out by the health care provider until now. It turns out that I didn't need to get a TB test, and I was just about to go in for the second one tomorrow!!

Absolutely fine with me! I'm used to miserable summers and freezing winters so Charlottesville will be like living in Hawaii comparatively.limegreen wrote:It is currently 64 and raining, evidently el niño is back and the south is going to continue being abnormally cold through winter.JSUVA2012 wrote:Temperature reading when I am packing: 117 degrees yesterday, 112 today, with gusts of hot wind

Okay, back to packing and trying to avoid heatstroke by hopping in the pool every hour.

On weather.com they're hit or miss on even telling you what the weather is in Charlottesville right now let alone days in advance.YCrevolution wrote:My power went out for about a minute.limegreen wrote:It is currently 64 and raining, evidently el niño is back and the south is going to continue being abnormally cold through winter.JSUVA2012 wrote:Temperature reading when I am packing: 117 degrees yesterday, 112 today, with gusts of hot wind

I wouldn't trust a forecast seven days in advance for Charlottesville, at least for the time I've been here. They're usually okay at predicting one day ahead, and that's about it.

One of my good friends is from Zimbabwe but is blonde, blue-eyed, and white. She just married an American, so her kids will be African Americans.

Reminds me of the Moroccan med student who got flack for self-identifying as African American...jasofbase2001 wrote:One of my good friends is from Zimbabwe but is blonde, blue-eyed, and white. She just married an American, so her kids will be African Americans.

I can prove that I'm 1/64 Moroccan, but I figured that wouldn't be enough to qualify for AA.

Well, we didn't subjugate many Arabs or Berber in slavery. We don't feel too much white guilt about those... yet.JSUVA2012 wrote:Reminds me of the Moroccan med student who got flack for self-identifying as African American...jasofbase2001 wrote:One of my good friends is from Zimbabwe but is blonde, blue-eyed, and white. The Spanish took the effort to enslave the Moors? I thought they just tried to kill them all instead.YCrevolution wrote:The French and Spanish on the other hand...napolnic wrote:Well, we didn't subjugate many Arabs or Berber in slavery. Re: UVA Class of 2012
It ended up being France and they were pretty inept about instilling any kind of rule on a made up country or having any probable plan to militarily create a regime. European warfare never (and maybe still) got used to groups that didn't fight in straight lines or, you know, moved.YCrevolution wrote:For the ones that were in Spain, probably. I believe shortly after the start of the 20th century, France and Spain were assigned as protectors and administrators of Morocco through a treaty (or some treaties; at any rate, Morocco never signed any of them). I don't think their rule was entirely benevolent.CE2JD wrote:The Spanish took the effort to enslave the Moors? Re: UVA Class of 2012
so for a.williams' "useful" post for the night:
I know we don't have section numbers yet, but if you want to get a more general idea of how much you may spend on books, book lists for this semester's classes can be found on:
--LinkRemoved--
it's not really useful but provides about 15 min of aimless time relief

Is it safe to assume we will need The Blue Book no matter who we have for LR&W? At least that would be one book we could go ahead and order for cheap.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
For CrimLaw, all the professors have assigned ISBN 9780820564722 and for LRW, all profs have assigned ISBN 0-6141-9943-3 and ISBN 9781583607879. Unfortunately, the two of those that Amazon stocks, Amazon's price is actually a couple of dollars more than LawBooksForLess, but if anyone wanted to get used copies, those books look like they'll be required no matter what section you're in.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
