Harris Teeter student discount is 5% and it restarts August 1. Pretty sure Kroger is the same.limegreen wrote:Harris Teeter has a student discount but they said it doesn't start until August so I don't know how much it is. I haven't noticed any other places that have a student discount except the running shoes shop down at the corner.showNprove wrote:Does anyone know of any specials at the restaurants yet? What is the deal with BWW? I have tried the one here and at home and I just don't find it that appealing. The wings are so greasy and some of the sauces are good but none of them are anything out of this world. What am I missing?
I wouldn't call BWW great but it's good. Probably just not your type of food.
I guess I never paid attention to the bookstore account thing because I had the money at the time.

At BWW, you have the get the boneless wings. I agree that the regular wings can be pretty greasy. I definitely go there for the boneless wings, strong collection of sauces, sports on tv, and the specials.limegreen wrote:Harris Teeter has a student discount but they said it doesn't start until August so I don't know how much it is. That's kind of sad about none of the restaurants having specials. In Chapel Hill, you could find one for lunch and dinner almost every weekday. Since no one can ever decide where to eat, especially in big groups, it's a good way of limiting your choices.

Hmm. I tried the boneless wings and they were so greasy I couldn't even finish mine, but maybe it was just a bad day for them or me or both. I actually really like chicken wings / boneless wings / chicken fingers / etc. etc. but I am picky about sauces.showNprove wrote:

I think it's $43,800 for non-residents, $5,000 less for residents.kritiosboy wrote:Do we know what tuition is yet, officially?

Re: UVA Class of 2012
If any of you in Cville want a good meal, it's the last day or so of Restaurant Week. Tonight we went to Horse and Hound (right near the Amtrak station). I got crab cakes, steak, and brownie; they were all very good and met my raised expectations for the $25 price (down from the $30-something it would normally be for this week). Get a reservation though because it might be crowded.
Another place I don't think I've mentioned in the past is Continental Divide, across from the Amtrak station, which was good too.

I don't remember if I mentioned this or not, but I went ahead and ordered one of the MacBook bundles a month ago. The whole law school loaner thing was too reassuring a deal for me to pass up, and they said they'd support any UVA bundle, so I bought an undergrad-offered bundle (13" MBP, 4GB RAM/250GB HDD) and it just arrived today. I'm having fun playing with it and getting everything set up right now.
Also, if anyone wants an 8GB iPod touch, I'm taking $200 or best offer, shipping included. They're normally $229 plus tax/shipping. PM me if interested.

Kroger's has a student discount of 5% off. When you get a Kroger card you have to tell them you're a student and they'll give you a card that gives you 5% off at the end of each purchase.

I got that bundle too. Very happy with it so far--seems much improved from the macbook I had before!vanwinkle wrote:I don't remember if I mentioned this or not, but I went ahead and ordered one of the MacBook bundles a month ago. Re: UVA Class of 2012
So I was searching the SBA website and found that they have a database of class outlines available to look at.
They are interesting to get an idea of what the classes are like and will probably be a good resource later in the year.
Here's the link:

Apparently I have nothing better to do at 1:30 in the morning, but I'm bored and checking out all the random links.

One month until classes start! (yes, I am overly excited by this. Unfortunately, life consists of waiting around before I move to c-ville at the moment)

Thanks for the outlines link. Does anyone know if we'll be taught how to outline classes?

Re: UVA Class of 2012
I don't think so. Perhaps a current law student will correct me, but to me the process doesn't seem any different than an undergraduate class. An outline is just all the important concepts from the semester in a somewhat organized manner.lsatbobby wrote:Thanks for the outlines link. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Yea, there's really nothing special about outlining except maybe understanding the proper level of detail to put in. You can just look at the outline bank for a pretty good idea of it.
If nothing else, you'll get a dry run when you take practice midterms.

Nobody will teach you how to outline, but the outline bank should give you a pretty good idea on what to do. And honestly, there is no "right way" to outline....it's all about what works for you.lsatbobby wrote:Thanks for the outlines link. Does anyone know if we'll be taught how to outline classes?
If I remember correctly though, our Peer Advisors showed us how to "brief" a case during orientation.

Practice midterms? Are these administered by the school or do we do them on our own? I'm glad there's such a thing, considering how important exams are I'd like to take a practice one first. If nothing else, you'll get a dry run when you take practice midterms.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Professors have the discretion to give them I think? A few professors give real midterms that count for part of your grade. I had practice midterms in Contracts and CivPro. I believe all small section professors give them but not sure about that.Cavalier wrote:Practice midterms? Are these administered by the school or do we do them on our own? Awesome, I'm glad I'll have an idea of what to expect for finals. I suppose there are old final exams available, but it would be nice to go through one and have a professor tell us how to answer it.
