I'm studying abroad in Australia/New Zealand next semester and graduating in May. I'll probably try to work over the summer to provide a little spending money for 1L.

Just curious, how many of you have started to follow the UVA football team now that you've been accepted? I never paid attention to the ACC until now. Tough loss lass week, huh? By the way, what do all of you do for fun? (Sports, hobbies, interest in politics, etc.)

I also like Carriage Hill apartments. They are a bit further from campus, but you get far more space and quality for the costs. Plus, a gym, pool, etc.

I am definitely going to start following UVA football (not that there is much to follow). I got to an SEC school right now and the change is definitely going to be a step down in athletics but a major step up in academics.

My school played UVA at home recently, and UVA beat us. I honestly didn't know whether to be happy or sad about the outcome. I guess I was going to win no matter what :D

Is anyone else excited to be moving out of the city? Atlanta's been a bit much for me for the past several years and I'm excited to get to a more relaxing area. As far as hobbies go, I try to play golf when the chance arises, and I love to hunt and fish. Are there any sportsmen out there coming to Virginia?

I'm glad I'm moving out of San Diego because it's SO EXPENSIVE TO LIVE HERE!

And I'm not so sure rooting for an ACC football team, even one that you attend, is a worthwhile endeavor at this point.

I plan on learning golf this year before schools starts... otherwise, I'm a skier and road biker...

UVA is my second team. UNC is always going to be the team I cheer for. Hey Rodandgun, what happened last weekend to GT? You went to GT right?

So when is everyone going to visit the school? I'm going during one of the New Student days in March.

I'm studying abroad next semester and won't be back until early April, which means I'm missing both of the ASWs. I'm actually pretty disappointed that I can't visit and meet everyone. Plus, it'll make it difficult for meeting potential roommates.

So is this the official UVA thread? How is everyone going about finding roommates?

for folks admitted, how long after your status checker changed to say "As of XX/XX/08, a decision has been made on your application for admission to the University of Virginia School of Law" did you get the call? Are they calling everyone, or just ED folks?

There's a pretty active Rod & Gun club at UVA. It's pretty new - was just getting off the ground when I graduated but I'm still on their email list for some reason and it seems like they're doing a lot these days. Pretty good flyfishing up in the mountains too (with awesome views), if you ever get a chance.

EDIT: wow, I used the word "pretty" way too much in that post. :P

I just got the call on Monday (11/10). How long before I receive a packet in the mail? I just need to see it in writing before I'll actually believe it.

I got the call on a thurs, and it wasn't until later that afternoon that the website was updated indicating a decision had been made. My letter came in the mail the following monday.

I've actually done a little bit of fly fishing on the Rapidan about 1/2 hour from C-Ville and it was really nice. Beautiful area and great water. I'm definitely planning on checking out the Rod & Gun Club when I get there. What other clubs etc. are y'all thinking about participating? Does anyone know anything about the Jefferson or Washington literary/debating societies? They look pretty interesting to me.

I'm not married but I've lived with my boyfriend for several years and he'll be coming with me. We are pretty low key.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
