Re: Michigan 2012
I thought based on last cycle that the ED people heard before any of those who were RD. It wasn't like there was a huge time gap though, maybe only a few days, so basing it on the sample here at TLS maybe what caused me to draw that conclusion.

Re: Michigan 2012
There are at least a dozen profiles on LSN showing an acceptance date of 11/13 for applicants who enrolled (eventually) at other schools. So they couldn't be Early Decision-types. Unless the ED submission deadline was earlier last year, it appears that those decisions aren't necessarily released before the Regular Decision ones.just a girl wrote:I thought based on last cycle that the ED people heard before any of those who were RD. Re: Michigan 2012
I should have clarified. I was referring to last cycle of people on TLS. Come to think of it tho, awesomerossum was accepted before some ed. I think.
My apologies for unintentionally misleading anyone. Although, it seems like the information to answer the question was readily available on LSN anyway, so maybe I should have just stayed out of it.

Michigan requested my Law School report as of today, and sent me an email that it could be 10 weeks before I hear a decision from them. I hope thats just an automatic email and they do understand that I'm applying ED.

I can`t speak to the ED timeline but of all the schools I applied to last year Michigan got back to me the quickest.
Good luck all, I was going back and forth between UM and a few other schools and have absolutely no regrets about choosing UM, has been great so far.

I just got off the phone with the office of admissions and asked them about sending a diversity statement after I've gone complete. After I told her when I went complete she said that my file has probably already been read by one reader and is on its way to the second reader and that the statement might not get there on time to make a difference.

Next week it should be both Berkeley and Michigan right?

Re: Michigan 2012
In terms of decisions? I'm not sure about Michigan, but Berkeley can be quite strange in its admissions timing. If you're sent to the faculty/student committee, it will be a fair amount of time before you hear. If you're admitted by the Dean, you can hear only a couple of days after going complete, and if you're dinged by the dean I'd assume the same timing would apply.silver11 wrote:Next week it should be both Berkeley and Michigan right?
Melda-don't worry so much about the status check! It's just going to drive you crazy to check it daily and see it never change. If you're concerned it won't change when you go to decision, call the admissions office and ask them if there's an IT problem on their side.

Re: Michigan 2012
Mines went blank yesterday after being complete for several weeks, but they have not updated the status checker yet today as of me writing this. So I'm just going a little crazy.melda wrote:what would be worse: michigan decisions not coming out this week at all, or starting to come out but you don't get one?
my status check has been blank for over a week, after having been complete, and i think i've completely lost my mind. is anyone else blank? anyone? hello?

No, Michigan definitely rolls you to decision about a week before you receive the information, regardless of if it's good news or bad. I don't know why GULC would bother changing your status check after you've heard, because who's going to check online after they've received the decision via mail.
I agree though, I don't know why they would roll you over or reject you before they see the applications from everyone else who applied ED.

I second this idea. I really want to believe its true.melda wrote:call me crazy, but i really really think going blank means they've made a (good) decision, but they don't want to switch to "decision" until after you've received your acceptance, a la gtown. i don't think they would bother to reject or roll you to regular decision yet, as the ED deadline hasn't even passed.

Re: Michigan 2012
I posted this elsewhere but was curious to know if "Just a Girl" had any insight......
It says it will change to "decision" once a decision is in place. However, if they decide to roll you over it will say "Early Decision - No decision."
So my question is......if it says "decision," does that mean you got in?
For ED, there's only admit or roll over, no deny.
Anyone with thoughts?

Just curious how it will work though since they either give you decision or no decision.
See what I mean?

Yeah, I'm prepared to interpret "Decision" this early in the cycle as "Accepted."
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
