My bride will be probably be staying in AZ during 2L year just to plan our wedding in May '11.

Wow, that's dedication. I'm probably the only girl who has absolutely no desire to ever have a wedding. I plan on going to Vegas or signing the papers down at City Hall.JSUVA2012 wrote:+1crazyinalabama wrote:Also, I would assume the amount of stress will depend on the location (cross country from VA) and how planning-intensive/expensive your wedding is going to be . haha, +1. Glad to hear there's at least one other girl out there who feels the way I do about weddings. Especially after I watched about three hours of Bridezillas yesterday...limegreen wrote:

Does anyone know which banks are in C-ville, and which have branches close to the law school? I'm going to need to switch banks when I move, though if any of them also have branches here I could do it early and save myself some trouble.

Bank of America is (was?) the major UVA bank. There's a Wachovia/Wells Fargo a few minute walk from the law school in Barracks. There might be some others but I use Wachovia/Wells Fargo.vanwinkle wrote:Does anyone know which banks are in C-ville, and which have branches close to the law school? Going with Suntrust myself, since it's present in both Charlottesville and D.C. (home).

Yeah, this is my current bank and why I'm looking to change. I'll never bank with BoA again after a fiasco with a "Student VISA card" I had in college and their abysmal customer service. At this point I'm thinking Wachovia is the way to go for me.JSUVA2012 wrote:No JP Morgan/Chase within a 50 mile radius.

I have Wells Fargo right now. I'll have to do some investigating about what I need to do (if anything) to transfer my accounts to Wachovia.

Can Wells Fargo folks use Wachovia ATMs without a fee? I want to make sure that I have somewhere to withdraw money for free.

my fiance and I are getting married in January, 2011 (between semesters of 2L). He'll be with me in Cville but we've deputized our families to finish up what we don't get done in the next few weeks. January = time for a honeymoon + off-season discounts.

Yes. But it looks like you'll have to transfer your account to Wachovia if you want to be able to cash checks locally, get a cashier's check, etc. The conversion of Wachoiva banks into Wells Fargo banks is going to take another couple of years according to the Wells Fargo website.Cavalier wrote:Can Wells Fargo folks use Wachovia ATMs without a fee? There are a TON of Wachovias in Cville from what I have seen. There are also a lot of BB&ts.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
I'm getting married late June 2010. We've been engaged since September '09, so I've already had time to get a lot of the big decisions out of the way - dresses, church, reception site, photographers, invitations... I'm trying to cram a lot more planning into the next few weeks and during Christmas break, plus delegating. Fingers crossed that this won't get toooo stressful!dinkyjeans wrote:my fiance and I are getting married in January, 2011 (between semesters of 2L). On another note... I know we've already gone over this a million times, haha, but I can't find it. Is it possible for me to get my UVA email forwarded to my regular gmail account? I just tried from my gmail address, but it said that POP3 wouldn't give me access or something. Thanks!!

(1) Log into your UVA GMail Account (from SIS or wherever). (2) Go to Settings >> Forwarding (3) Type in your main GMail Account and then save.
Additionally...
In your main gmail account you can set it up to where you can send mail from your UVA Address.
(1) In your main Gmail Account go to settings (2) Go to Accounts (3) Add Account (4) Type in your UVA Email/s (5) Then they send kind of confirmation email, but after you click through that you should be set.
Exactly two days ago I left my job where I write technical manuals for a software company, I couldn't resist creating some more lists of instructions....haha.
