When you live with someone else there tends to be a small decrease in food costs. You are able to buy much more in bulk that if you lived on your own might not be consumed in the same sort of time window and otherwise would spoil.

$150/mo for groceries was probably a bit low, but bigdtrain is correct re: having an SO reducing costs -- in every respect, including food but also in terms of phone costs, utilities, etc.
I don't think I'm so far off in terms of food as it may seem, though. A box of $1.75 Trader Joe's cereal and $2 milk will last me about 10 days generally. That's 37 cents per meal! Obviously lunch and dinner are different stories, but we buy a lot of stuff cheap & fresh at our kind of...market district here (I guess the STL equivalent is the Soulard Market?), etc.
And in terms of $400 being low for rent -- that's not an estimate, it's what we've already signed a lease for
. I am such a cheapo that I searched far and wide until we found a place for $800/mo WITH separate parking...Believe me, I trolled Craigslist every day for several months to find the perfect place because I am an insane person.

I was just going to say the same thing. Have my @wustl name but it just forwards to my Gmail.

Mine doesn't seem to be forwarding to my Gmail for some reason, even though it says it should be. Hmm.
Received my first tuition bill, though! Got a little more $ to work with than anticipated, so I'm happy.

hi kind of freaking out...
so i got my first tuition bill--it has nothing on there about anticipated loan amounts even though I filled out my MPNs for all loans already...now I'm wondering if I sent them to the right address since WashU had multiple addresses to send them to on the form. I think I sent them to the Brookings address...is this right??

no tuition bill for me yet
I never got the email about the MPN forms until I called them. Has anyone else not gotten the bill yet or should I start worrying about my emails getting lost?

I had the same thing happen with the email about MPNs but I received my e-bill this morning. I know I had several emails go to my spam in gmail.

When I went to create the WUSTL key, it allowed me to choose an id and password but when I clicked on submit it said operation can not be performed now. This was yesterday evening. I'll try again in a few minutes.

Same for me. I just filled out my forms last week; because of this, I am not surprised that they aren't showing up. When did you fill out yours? Did you end up emailing/calling?dpburm wrote:hi kind of freaking out...

I filled mine out and submitted them may 28th or something like that...so more than a month agoEleanor_Rigby wrote:Same for me. and yes, I ended up calling...
found out that 1) if u sent your online mpn to the brookings address, that's correct (aka mine were received) 2) apparently i had the entrance counseling complete for the stafford but not for grad plus
sooo, i guess i'm calling tomorrow to see if there are two separate entrance counseling things for stafford and grad plus because i could have sworn that there was only one for BOTH of them (not one for EACH of them), if that makes sense...did other people complete 2 entrance counselings? or just one?

Re: WashU (wustl) Class of 2012!
I just completed one entrance counseling. The word file doesn't make mention of a second counseling. But, even if there were two, wouldn't whichever loan you completed counseling for show up on the ebill? I'm just showing my scholarship and Perkins. Unless you are showing something different?dpburm wrote:I filled mine out and submitted them may 28th or something like that...so more than a month agoEleanor_Rigby wrote:Same for me. Re: WashU (wustl) Class of 2012!
Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster here! Congrats to all of you on your acceptance to Wash U Law! The university is a wonderful institution (I have two degrees from there so I know), and the law school is awesome. If you are not familiar with St. Louis, I don't doubt that you will really enjoy your experience here!
For those of you still looking for a place to live, please consider checking out my listing on craigslist: --LinkRemoved--
I will be moving to Nashville on or around Aug. 10 (to attend Vandy Law) and am looking to rent out the unit around the same time. If you have any questions whatsoever, don't hesitate to PM me.
UPDATE: condo unit is off the market. We ended up renting it to a future SLU Masters in Public Health student!

No you are awesome if anything just bc of the fact that I check the facebook group a couple times a day. Not so much in a stalkerish sense, though the curiosity is still there, well that's a lie I've been a total creeper.dpburm wrote:I keep looking at the washington university school of law class of 2012 facebook group to see if any new members have joined...is that lame? i'm actually pretty excited to meet all of you!

Pray for section C. Best times, the Minz is awesome. Goldwasser is cool too. Neither are very socratic at all. I'm assuming Baker is new, so that's kind of a wild card. We had Davis with that combination last year, but I guess she's not teaching K anymore. Greenfield is the old timer K professor. He will single someone out the first day and make them cry. It happened to my buddy last year, but everyone knew who he was at the bar the first bar revue that thursday. Y'all should realize how lucky you are. No sections start before 9, half the sections dont' start until 10? That's unbelievable. My section started at 9 all year last year, and there were a few 8AM classes sprinkled in for some sections.Eleanor_Rigby wrote:Care to give us the lowdown on any of these profs?rhit2004 wrote:For those of you interested, the class schedule for incoming 1Ls is posted. You don't know what section you are in yet but you can see when each section's classes will meet and who the professors are. I am sure there are likely to be minor changes but I know it was fun and exciting last year when I was an incoming 1L each time a new piece of information was available.
