As an example, my formal shoes look totally business like but have a steel toe. It hasn't come in handy yet, but you never know when you're going to have to drop something on your toe or fight crime in your suit. Plus they're ridiculously comfortable compared to any other fancy-pants shoe I've had.
Remind me never to make you angry when you're in formal attire.

You will see me in jeans probably 50% of the time when it is hot (or else I'm wearing shorts/skirts) and 99% of the time when it isn't. I only own a couple of pairs of pants that AREN'T jeans, and those are corduroys.

While I am excited to buy a nice Theory of Nanette Lepore suit, I would take jeans over business formal or casual any day.

After two visits to the South (to UT and UVA) wearing jeans, and now knowing what sweaty denim feels like, I've decided I will be wearing shorts way more at school than I do in freaking hotass Phoenix.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There are some crappy parts to the dry heat - seatbelt buckle burns and it being 130 degrees inside your car, for instance - but in terms of sweating through your clothes, the South wins.

I have found the humidity in Cville isn't nearly as bad as it was back home (Hampton Roads). Even on the most humid of days it doesn't seem anywhere close to like it is at home, but that probably has something to do with all the water and everything.

One of the great things about Virginia: you can go to the beach and then drive a couple hours to the mountains (or a swamp if you really wanted to).

I'm excited about this, since I've spent 24/24 years in a state that has nothing but varieties of desert and pine forest.

Well, after coming from NH, I'm pretty excited for Virginia weather. I once went outside a few years ago to go to class in -20 degree weather and a tear drop froze to my eyelash. It didn't melt and fall until I was sitting in my seat in class.

You can swim/surf here without a wetsuit.

Is the Atlantic really warmer than the Pacific, or is that something I made up?

So now they just need to build a machine that generates some surf.

It's probably all connected. But then again, I'm just making this up, so it might not be.

Atlantic currents come up from the equator; pacific currents come down from Alaska. That's why the ocean at Jones Beach is warmer than San Diego.

at any given latitude, by the way, the Atlantic coast is 16 degrees warmer than the Pacific coast. How's that for a fact of the day.

Lol... that was pretty good. I had heard the thing about currents and then wanted to fact check so as not to make a fool of myself. The thing about temperature was the first thing that popped up.
