I tried to get in a few months ago, but because they give priority to UCSF students I was promptly placed on a waitlist. About two weeks ago I called to see where I was on the waitlist, and they told me that my chances of getting off were very slim. At this point I very much doubt you are going to have any luck (of course it doesn't hurt to try).
Oh okay.. bummer! :/ Thanks for the input though! :)

I have another question, how do we obtain our Hastings login ID for email and webadvisor? Did everyone complete the health insurance form that has to be signed by a physican and the PPD Tuberculosis shot?

Crim law, civ pro, torts, legal writing. Woohoo! seems like a pretty full schedule to me.

Yep, 5 days. Only one class on fridays though! woot woot! although unlike undergrad, I guess I'll be using that time to study... I'm gonna miss drinking.

DA, I think when we're both in SF we should meet up and get drinks! BF and I found a cute place near hastings that makes its own infused liquors.. I had a crazy drink with jalapeno infused tequila and apricot liqueur, or something similar. It had a chili pepper sugar rim. Yummm.

Wow, I only have three classes up so far... maybe they already consider me remedial (jk). Civ Pro, Crim and Contracts. Anyone able to tell what section they're in? I'm wondering if I'm in section 4 because all of my class numbers have suffixes that end in 4... anyone else notice something like that?

Hi all,

Haven't read the thread yet but thought I'd offer myself out there. I'm a rising 2L at Hastings and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Either reply here, PM or find my thread over in "Discuss your School".

I swear I will try not to bore everyone with why-Alameda-rocks tidbits for the next three years, BUT this is worth knowing.... if people are drinkers you should know about two things:

Rosenblum Winery and Hangar 1 (vodka distillery where they make jalapeno-infused vodka, pear and apricot liquers, etc.).

They are on the old Naval base in Alameda in the hangars, right by the Alameda ferry stop (take the ferry so you don' t have to drive!) and you can do tours and tastings for a really fun afternoon or evening (check the hours if you want to go in the evenings as Alameda is not known for its night life). It's an especially fun thing to do with out-of-towners who maybe don't have time to get up to wine country - you get a fun ferry ride through the Bay and the Rosenblum tasting room has AWESOME views of the skyline.

It was awesome. It was sort of awkward though because the bartender was pregnant and yet kept tasting our drinks... wtf?

Don't worry guys, the difficulty of your first semester of law school is greatly exaggerated. Don't buy into the hype. You'll find yourself having free time, so just enjoy yourself. 2L is going to be painful though for me

What professors did you guys get and on what days and times? I have Civ pro at 1050-1150 on T, W, Th (Marcus); Crim at 940 M, T,W (Chang); Torts on M,W at 1-3 (Roht-Arraiza); Legal Writing on Thurs at 4-6 (Derham). FYI, I put approximate times.

I have Civ Pro, Legal Writing, Torts, and Property. All my class codes except for Legal Writing ends in the number 3!

Haha- some of you will find a lovely email stating you'll have to read an entire book before class... Good luck if that applies to you!!

I'm one of those people and the book is REALLY easy to get through. I read it in undergrad for a class and it took maybe a couple of days. It's also really pretty damn interesting.

I'm in Section 1. I think a few of you also might be, too. (W&R; Torts--so bummed I didn't get my ex-TA who is now a prof.; Civ Pro; Criminal Law).

Damn it... stoopid section 1.

(I got a secret thrill about being in section 1 though. NUMBER OOOONE)

It applies to me (section one for the win!), but I'm actually pretty excited about it. Right now I'm working 40hrs/wk at a crappy summer job and I'm dying to do something a little more stimulating.

I just reread my quoted post and I wanted to say my "haha" wasn't intended to sound negative or teasing, as it seems to read. it's more an awkward stream of concious thing I do too much. I just thought I'd clarify: don't want to seem (more) annoying!!

Okay anyways.... (Insert awkward haha)

For the competition: what does the snarky gunner say to section 1?

Not a big fan of this whole correlation between sections and class rank thing as I would appear to bring up the rear in section 5. Crim, civ pro, contracts, and legal writing. 9:40-6:50 every Thursday. Anyone know what time Beer on the Beach starts? Seems like it might be necessary at the end of that day.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
